There are a few habits that will absolutely make you feel worse in perimenopause.
So let’s talk about the 6 things you need to stop doing immediately if you want to feel like a functioning human again. 😅
1️⃣ Stop doing your kids’ laundry.
Most moms don’t realize that getting kids to do their own laundry sooner rather than later is just as good for them as it is for you. It’s a real-life skill, and kids should be included in household chores. I recommend starting around age 9 — they’re fully capable, and you deserve the break.
2️⃣ Stop grabbing a banana for breakfast and calling it a meal. Your hormones need protein in the morning to stabilize blood sugar, calm anxiety, and support your brain. A banana is great after you’ve had your protein.
3️⃣ Stop checking emails after work.
Your nervous system is already overwhelmed. Every “quick check” spikes cortisol and keeps your body in go-go-go mode. Your hormones need OFF time. Your inbox will survive until your next shift.
4️⃣ Stop saying yes to everything.
If your body is screaming “NO,” listen. Overcommitting in perimenopause is an express ticket to burnout, resentment, and tears in the Target parking lot. Protect your energy like your life depends on it…because it does!
5️⃣ Stop eating foods you know make you feel terrible.
If you bloat, crash, spiral, or snap afterwards… that’s your body talking. Inflammation hits harder in midlife. Choose the foods that love you back.
6️⃣ Stop falling asleep to Netflix.
Blue light + overstimulation = terrible sleep + terrible moods. Your hormones need darkness, quiet, and actual wind-down time, not another episode of Stranger Things.
Small changes = big relief.
Not perfection. Not restriction.
Just habits that finally align with the reality of your changing hormones.
