If you’re experiencing escape or avoidance behaviors in your habilitation session, you could try removing/reducing the demand and then reintroduce/gradually increase the demand as the member is in a state of readiness to participate. Once a member learns a skill, make sure they can apply it in a variety of situations. Generalization is teaching a learned skill in a variety of ways, locations, and situations. For example: once your member learns to use their home restroom make sure they can use a variety of restrooms outside the home.
