This is your reminder (and mine) that looking your age is not a tragedy even though the world, celebrities and yes, my beloved skin care industry will tell you otherwise.
It’s not something to try to “defy” or “reverse”. It’s NORMAL. Looking 35 forever is NOT.
seven more days until I hit double nickels (55) and this one is hitting me hard emotionally for some reason. Probably because I’m really seeing the structural changes in my face, the loss of collagen and elasticity more than ever. I’ve also decided to let my natural hair come through. And it’s all ok. But sometimes it doesn’t feel that way when you see 76 year old women on the big screen with perfect necks.
There are wonderful celebrity women like and who openly speak about aging naturally.
Those celebrity voices help normalize the conversation around natural aging, and that matters.
But there’s incredible power in everyday women like me and you leading by example too.
We’re the faces women see at school drop-off, in business meetings, at the gym, in friendships, and in daily life.
When ordinary women choose authenticity over pressure and support other women in doing the same, it creates a ripple effect that feels attainable, relatable, and deeply influential.
So cheers to each of us who are embracing the reality and normalcy of growing older and all of the physical changes that come with it.
May we continue to redefine what aging can look and feel like with honesty, vulnerability, and grace.
May we encourage more women to see that they do not have to fear or fight aging every step of the way.
This is the heart behind Ensō , supporting women in caring for their skin, body, and mind in a way that honors the aging process rather than resisting it.
I’d love for you to share your thoughts below or pass this along to another woman who needs the reminder that healthy aging is still beautiful aging.
