Kathy Gerstner, LCSW

Kathy has been in the counseling field for over 20 years. She received her Masters in Clinical Social Work from the University of Chicago in 1987 and has had a variety of experiences through her work in a number of different settings. She has worked in community mental health, an inpatient psychiatric hospital, substance abuse, geriatrics, and private practice. Much of her wo

rk has focused on women's issues, depression, anxiety, addictions, and trauma. Kathy believes therapy is about healing and change. She approaches this with a style of empathy and warmth which helps her clients feel at ease. She has a passion to see people grow to health and maturity in all aspects of life, especially emotional, spiritual and relational. She relies on a variety of approaches to achieve this growth and central to this is her belief in the power of prayer and the Holy Spirit guiding the process. She is active in her church community. Her hobbies include music, reading, traveling and spending time with her family.
