Patience is key when parenting kiddos with ADHD, and yet, it can be one of the most difficult things to practice sometimes! Today’s comes from my own child, who let me know that being patient is the most important thing a parent can do when their child has - you might need to repeat yourself once or twice, or gently get their attention focused on you, but being patient, firm, and kind, can allow our children to understand when something we say is really important. How can you practice patience today?

What’s on your bookshelf? 📖

As a couples therapist, I’ve had multiple trainings in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy, so I’ll always recommend Sue Johnson’s book “Hold Me Tight”, *however* I have worked with couples that were still in a negative place with one another and the conversations prompted within the text became triggers to the couple’s negative cycle (that back and forth pattern we formed during our arguments as a couple).

That’s why my main form of “intervention” as an EFT therapist is to help you understand that negative cycle and practice sharing with one another in new ways. THEN, having deeper conversations like the ones in Hold Me Tight can bring more connection than conflict and really help you come back to one another.

What has been the most helpful piece of insight you’ve been able to get from therapy? I would love for you to share with us all!

I know I have had both positive and difficult experiences in my own therapy, and hope to always strive to provide clients with the hopeful experiences they deserve.

Sitting with clients is such a privilege and a gift. To be let into their inner worlds and help them make sense of their experiences is something I never want to take for granted.

Can’t make it to my office in Chandler? That’s okay! Let’s schedule for a virtual telehealth therapy session instead! I’m available to clients throughout the state of Arizona.

Telehealth has been researched to be just as effective as in-person treatment (though with some clients, in-person is the way to go!). Give me a call so we can talk about your options and see what works best for you.
