Per usual.
We waited until the last possible minute to get ready for ozarks.
Pulled the wagon from the back lot of KRA HQ Wednesday, slapped tires from a rzr on it and took off towards our fabrication department 20miles away.
It took us nearly 2 hours, and we fought it tooth and nail until the next morning.
At 8am(ish) Thusday, we called the wagon dead for the event. She jumped time, and needed a lift kit. We couldnt locate a timing set, so it was just doomed to go at that point.
830am(ish) Thursday we pulled ol reliable, The Tomahawk, out of the back lot of our former fabrication department.
Slapped a battery in her and took off to the new fab yard! Without a hitch, no beats missed she gracefully made it all 4 blocks.
We completed the body lift, slapped our new and improved wheel/tire combo on her, AND finally did a fluid check only to realize it was about a gallon overfull on oil 😬
We blame Californians, with zero evidence for this conviction.
So Friday morning (yea, Friday. The day we are driving it to the event 3 hours away.)
we changed the oil. We weatherproofed, we tarped, we taped, we sprayfoamed.
We even took her to C&W Muffler in Shawnee Oklahoma, to remedy our crushed flexpipe. Our KUSTOM lake pipes (that might be bed rails) got hooked up to our mismatched performance mufflers.
She was ready to go.
But wait a minute, "y'all brought other cars"
THATS RIGHT WE DID.
The bombco was also undergoing last minute repairs 2 hours southeast of HQ. She attempted to leave town and was pronounced DOA outside of town.
Thus resulting in the "kinda like Red Rocket" blazer to arrive at 6am Saturday!
But wait.
There's,
More!
Our beloved Mercury, Who had been enjoying the daily driver life in Oregon, also came. And not without hardships.
Jacob Wheelon, Doug Lindholm, and Tom Chemler, fought battle after battle from TUESDAY evening until FRIDAY evening to make it to Shawnee Oklahoma, from Portland Oregon.
If you hadn't guessed, its not simple to find parts for a 54 year old car when you break down. They also arent big fans of elevation change, and offroad tires arent really the greatest for highway driving. Harmonic balancer. Voltage regulator, fuel system, 2-3 tires is what it took, along with roughly 192732 gallons of gas.
Despite all these tribulations, we arrived at camp late Friday night to see all of our gambler family anxiously awaiting us!
2 days of driving our performance machines didnt go without damage. But, it's all a part of the Gamble. It's why we do it, it's a test.
After driving back to HQ Sunday, the mercury is in desperate need of a interior detail, and suspension work.
The Tomahawk... while still alive, is soon to undergo surgery. The entire cooling system became self contained after a few breakdowns, the steering has dead spots, and usually fuel injected cars dont pour black smoke under acceleration.
All in all, another successful Gambler in the books. We laughed, one of us cried, and 2 of us may or may not have spurred a night of mechanical carnage.
Always an amazing time at Gamblin The Ozarks thanks to our friends and family there.
We have some pictures, yall have some pictures, this is where the pictures need to be!
Stay tuned to see if we make it to another event this year, and what happens to our wounded. 😈
