Black History Month: Did You Know?

Jocelyn Elders, a Pediatric Endocrinologist, was the first African American to serve as U.S. Surgeon General.

During her tenure as Surgeon General, Elders proposed creating the Office of Adolescent Health, which is now part of the Department of Health and Human Services. Elders was a strong advocate for Adolescent development and comprehensive s*x education.
