A teacher is mine recommended this book to me years ago. I am loving it and can’t believe I waited so long so I’m recommending it today. So much to offer in the kindest and simplest or words.

Opening paragraph…"In case you haven't noticed, you have a mental dialogue going on inside your head that never stops. It just keeps going and going. Have you ever wondered why it talks in there? How does it decide what to say and when to say it? How much of what it says turns out to be true? How much of what is says is even important? And if right now you are hearing, "I don't know what you are talking about. I don't have a voice inside my head!" - that's the voice we're talking about.”

🌬️ Try Alternate Nostril Breathing for Headaches! 🌬️

Alternating breath between the left and right nostrils can promote balance and harmony in the mind and body.

This practice is easy for some and more difficult for others. If it causes your system any stress, please don't do it. There are lots of different breathing practices that can help. This is just one. Please contact me if you need personalized support.

🌬️ How to Practice: 🌬️

1️⃣ Find a comfortable seated position and fold your pointer and middle finger into your palm.

2️⃣ Using your right thumb, close off your right nostril.

3️⃣ Inhale slowly and deeply through your left nostril.

4️⃣ Close off your left nostril with your right ring finger and pinky finger release the right

nostril, and exhale through it.

5️⃣ Inhale slowly and deeply through your right nostril.

6️⃣ Close off your right nostril again with your right thumb, release the left nostril, and exhale through it.

7️⃣ This completes one round. Continue for a few minutes, alternating the breath through each nostril

🧘‍♀️ Embracing the Healing Power of Yoga for Knee Osteoarthritis! 🧘‍♂️

Hi everyone! 👋 Let's take a moment to talk about something truly transformative – YOGA! 🌟 Did you know that yoga can be a game-changer for those dealing with knee osteoarthritis? 🦵💫

I stumbled upon an amazing article from the International Journal of Yoga that sheds light on how yoga can alleviate the discomfort caused by knee osteoarthritis. 📚 The study highlights the positive impact of regular yoga practice on knee function, pain reduction, and overall quality of life for individuals with knee osteoarthritis.

This is a across from my studio. Another first sign of spring. As I get older I notice the seasons more, especially the early signs of spring. It's definitely one of the benefits of maturing for me. What are your favorite signs of spring?

I replanted this in the fall. Transitions are hard (for many of us humans too) and this tree is using all its tools. Bright pink flowers on are one of the earliest signs of spring here in North Carolina. They are one of my favorite things.

Setting off for a long trip (3 or so weeks) beginning with a long flight to Helsinki via Frankfurt. I’ve been using what I know as a long time yoga practitioner and as a yoga therapist to prep for a well trip. Fun to see this pop up on the airplane screen when I sat down. Thank you .

My husband is flying east from San Diego this morning. He loves the window seat and sent me these. Years ago they would’ve have looked half as captivating to me as they do today. Just seeing these took me to a place of peace and wonder. The earth is beautiful. Thank you meditation practice. I love this quote from Jean Klein's Ease of Being. I end all my yoga practices these days with my hands over my heart and notice the sensations of peace, ease, and stillness that have been hidden. A reminder that "stillness never leaves us, we leave it.”

In yogic philosophy there is a term called Ahimsa. Ahimsa means
non-harming and in some translations kindness. One of my favorite
meditations to practice and share is a Loving Kindness meditation
where we first send happiness, freedom, and love to a person, being,
or animal we love, then to a person we are ambivalent about, then to a
person we are in conflict with, and then to ourselves and then to the
world.

As a yoga therapist, I find this meditation is helpful for some
clients experiencing depression and social anxiety. There is also a
good amount of research regarding how metta meditation can help with
social anxiety, marital conflict, anger, and coping with the strains
of long-term caregiving.

One of the practices I use to bring joy into my own life is to read something inspiring every morning. It might be poetry, a spiritual text, or a novel that speaks to my heart. Right now I’m reading Ease of Being by Jean Klein. I am often looking for new ways to explain why is is so important to become aware of what is going on in the body. I love this quote. “Come to know the body through listening to it, for the body is in you, you are not in it. The body is a case history, so one must give it a chance to reveal itself.”

IBS can cause cramping, abdominal pain, bloating, diarrhea, and constipation. Often a chronic condition, yoga therapy can be a great adjunct to professional treatments. I help people with IBS using movement, breathing, and/or meditation practices. Why and how does yoga therapy help?

We almost always start by regulating the breath. This could be a movement practice and/or a stand alone breath practice. This may relieve symptoms of IBS and bring more clarity and calm to our lives.

There are also certain yoga postures that help. In some cases it is more than just doing the poses. It involves cultivating awareness of how our body reacts to yoga and the world around us and modifying can sooth the system and increase quality of life.

Meditation practices can be useful too. By expanding our awareness we become in touch with our own wisdom and see what changes we need to make in our lives to get better.
