The prop wall at Evolve is beginning to take shape. It’s filled with beautiful new pieces for practice. Many of you know I have a soft spot
for simple, well-made things, so you’ll find linen bolsters and 100% cotton blankets waiting for you.

One piece, though, means a little more. A lucky bamboo plant was gifted to me during one of my final classes at Yoga Garden, as a quiet way of carrying something meaningful from the past into what’s next.

It’s had me reflecting on what has made these past years so special.

Yoga is often translated as connection or unity. In my classes, that takes shape through a beginning meditation, intentional movement with clear, embodied alignment cues, and closing with a poem or reflection. There’s usually a thread running through the whole class, something we return to as we move and breathe together.

But what stands out most isn’t something I plan.

It’s the sound in the room before class begins—people catching up, checking in, laughing. It’s knowing each other’s names and pieces of each other’s lives. It’s the feeling when we sit together at the end and chant three Oms, and sometimes they just land in a way that feels shared.

That sense of community is what I care about most and what I hope to continue building at Evolve.

Whether you’ve practiced with me before or are considering joining for the first time, you are warmly invited.

Evolve Yoga Studio is taking shape, and I’m excited to begin offering classes here starting May 19. The schedule and sign-up link are now live through Momoyoga. See the link in my bio.

The studio building is on Damascus Church Road in Chapel Hill. Once you arrive, you are out in nature. Lots of green and trees, cardinals and hummingbirds, and even some turkey vultures in the sky. In the spring (before and after pollen) and again in the fall, the doors can be open. There’s a natural ease to the space — fresh air moving through, light shifting as the day unfolds. I’ve stocked the studio with bolsters, blankets, blocks, and mats, though you’re always welcome to bring your own.

The yoga studio where I currently teach will be closing in May. While that is bittersweet, it has also created an opportunity that feels like a natural next step.

Beginning May 18, I will be teaching classes from my studio in Chapel Hill, a self-contained, dedicated building on my property surrounded by trees. The studio is intentionally small so that classes remain personal and supportive. I have room for up to 14 students, which allows me to continue offering the kind of attentive, strength-building, alignment-based yoga many of you know from my classes.

To start, I will be offering:

• Gentle Hatha Yoga — Tuesdays at 10:00 a.m.
• Gentle Hatha Yoga — Thursdays at 10:00 a.m.
• iRest Yoga Nidra — 2nd Sunday of every month at 5:00 p.m.

Over the next couple of months, I’ll be preparing the space and sharing more details, including registration and photos of the studio renovation as it comes together.

This in no way impacts my work with private clients as a yoga therapist. It’s simply an addition to my offerings here at Evolve.

A teacher is mine recommended this book to me years ago. I am loving it and can’t believe I waited so long so I’m recommending it today. So much to offer in the kindest and simplest or words.

Opening paragraph…"In case you haven't noticed, you have a mental dialogue going on inside your head that never stops. It just keeps going and going. Have you ever wondered why it talks in there? How does it decide what to say and when to say it? How much of what it says turns out to be true? How much of what is says is even important? And if right now you are hearing, "I don't know what you are talking about. I don't have a voice inside my head!" - that's the voice we're talking about.”

🌬️ Try Alternate Nostril Breathing for Headaches! 🌬️

Alternating breath between the left and right nostrils can promote balance and harmony in the mind and body.

This practice is easy for some and more difficult for others. If it causes your system any stress, please don't do it. There are lots of different breathing practices that can help. This is just one. Please contact me if you need personalized support.

🌬️ How to Practice: 🌬️

1️⃣ Find a comfortable seated position and fold your pointer and middle finger into your palm.

2️⃣ Using your right thumb, close off your right nostril.

3️⃣ Inhale slowly and deeply through your left nostril.

4️⃣ Close off your left nostril with your right ring finger and pinky finger release the right

nostril, and exhale through it.

5️⃣ Inhale slowly and deeply through your right nostril.

6️⃣ Close off your right nostril again with your right thumb, release the left nostril, and exhale through it.

7️⃣ This completes one round. Continue for a few minutes, alternating the breath through each nostril

🧘‍♀️ Embracing the Healing Power of Yoga for Knee Osteoarthritis! 🧘‍♂️

Hi everyone! 👋 Let's take a moment to talk about something truly transformative – YOGA! 🌟 Did you know that yoga can be a game-changer for those dealing with knee osteoarthritis? 🦵💫

I stumbled upon an amazing article from the International Journal of Yoga that sheds light on how yoga can alleviate the discomfort caused by knee osteoarthritis. 📚 The study highlights the positive impact of regular yoga practice on knee function, pain reduction, and overall quality of life for individuals with knee osteoarthritis.

This is a across from my studio. Another first sign of spring. As I get older I notice the seasons more, especially the early signs of spring. It's definitely one of the benefits of maturing for me. What are your favorite signs of spring?

I replanted this in the fall. Transitions are hard (for many of us humans too) and this tree is using all its tools. Bright pink flowers on are one of the earliest signs of spring here in North Carolina. They are one of my favorite things.

Setting off for a long trip (3 or so weeks) beginning with a long flight to Helsinki via Frankfurt. I’ve been using what I know as a long time yoga practitioner and as a yoga therapist to prep for a well trip. Fun to see this pop up on the airplane screen when I sat down. Thank you .

My husband is flying east from San Diego this morning. He loves the window seat and sent me these. Years ago they would’ve have looked half as captivating to me as they do today. Just seeing these took me to a place of peace and wonder. The earth is beautiful. Thank you meditation practice. I love this quote from Jean Klein's Ease of Being. I end all my yoga practices these days with my hands over my heart and notice the sensations of peace, ease, and stillness that have been hidden. A reminder that "stillness never leaves us, we leave it.”
