This weekend, the Aftercare Team had the honor of being invited to celebrate someone very special to our Burn Community.
Nihith is a burn survivor, a volunteer, and as of this weekend, a UNC-Chapel Hill graduate! For the past three years, he has given his time, heart, and lived experience to our program by volunteering in our office, at Camp, and through the SOAR peer support program.
What makes his story so meaningful is how it began. One day, Nihith simply picked up the phone, called our office, and asked how he could get involved. That one phone call opened the door to years of connection, service, encouragement, and community.
It is a beautiful reminder to reach out. You never know what opportunities, relationships, or purpose may be waiting on the other side of one brave step.
Nihith has become such an important part of our burn community. At Camp Celebrate, our campers ask for him by name and look forward to having him as a counselor. His presence has meant so much to them, and we know he will be deeply missed.
But this is not goodbye. It is simply a “see you later.”
Nihith, thank you for showing what it means to lead with compassion, humility, and purpose. We are so proud of you and so excited to cheer you on as you begin your next chapter in medical school. Your future patients will be so lucky to have you.
Congratulations on your graduation! 🎓💙
