Injury prevention and advocacy is another part of our mission.

Today Dr. Alex Coward and Nurse Educator Courtney Wright of the Burn Center joined Captain Don Johnson (Garner Fire-Rescue), Robin Shannon, and others from the North Carolina Fireworks Safety Coalition to share our perspectives and voice our concerns at a NC House committee hearing to consider legalizing sale of more powerful -- and more dangerous -- fireworks. We are grateful our NC Representatives heard our concerns and did not pass or advance the bill.

On Saturday, our youngest burn survivors aged six and under, along with their families, enjoyed a fun-filled day together.
They discovered that other children are also burn survivors, observed special bugs up close, participated in parent chat time, splashed in the water while practicing sun safety, and had a great time!
Huge thanks to everyone who enjoyed the day together. Can’t wait to see you again!

Yesterday we joined one of our burn survivors in Bolivia, NC to recognize and thank the heroes who saved her life. It was a team effort by MANY people who make tireless, daily sacrifices with courage and skill.
