It is with deep sadness that the Division of Physical Therapy announces the passing of Dr. Carol Giuliani, PT, PhD, Professor Emerita at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, on January 23rd.

Dr. Giuliani served as a faculty member in the Division of Physical Therapy for over 30 years, during which she taught and mentored hundreds of students in the Division of Physical Therapy at UNC.

Dr. Giuliani was the co-founder of the Human Movement Science (HMSC) master’s and PhD program at UNC, one of the first programs in the nation to offer post-professional education for physical therapists wanting to conduct research to advance our practice and profession.

Dr. Giuliani was also heavily involved in the Academy of Neurologic Physical Therapy of the APTA and was designated a Catherine Worthingham Fellow of the American Physical Therapy Association (FAPTA).

A tribute to Dr. Giuliani will be held at this year’s Tar Heel Reunion at CSM, which will be on Thursday, 2/12 from 5:30-7:30pm at the Anaheim Marriott (700 W Convention Way) in Grand Ballroom Salon G.
If you are attending CSM, we hope you will join us in honoring Dr. Giuliani’s legacy.

Donations in memory of Dr. Giuliani can be made to the Giuliani-Wellman Scholarship fund at this link: https://give.unc.edu/hfdonate?t=giuliani
