Voices Together was pleased to present at NC CASE (North Carolina Council for Administrators of Special Education) in Wilmington this past week!

Voices Together's Founder & CEO Yasmine White and VMT Clinical Trainer Ayanna-Moné Arnold had the honor of presenting at NC CASE about Voices Music Therapy™, the tangible therapeutic outcomes of VMT sessions, and the power of a specialized curriculum improving social communication and emotional learning. We can't wait to return next year!

What Does Personal Power Mean?

Throughout the past two decades working with individuals across the autism spectrum, we at Voices Together have had the privilege of witnessing some incredible moments, but none more profound than when someone has the chance to discover their personal power.

Personal power isn't about control over others, but mastery over oneself. It's that "I can do this" feeling that emerges uniquely for each person.

At Voices Together, we've discovered music to be the universal catalyst in this journey. Our Voices Music Therapy (VMT™) model creates spaces where communication flows naturally and self-expression thrives.

Music motivates us in powerful ways — it opens the mind to learning and growth. Once these pathways are open to new experiences we weave in skill-based content, discussion, role play, social/emotional and language support.

Results we see from this journey:

- Self-regulation: managing emotional responses
- Goal-setting: working toward personal objectives
- Self-direction: making choices and self-advocating
- Building transferable skills: supporting independence across environments

Perhaps most revolutionary is our assumption of competence. Too often, neurodivergent individuals are defined by limitations. At Voices Together, we begin with the belief that each person has boundless capacity for growth and self-determination.

The impact extends beyond individuals to transform families, schools, and workplaces. Our vision: a world where everyone is seen, validated, and empowered to live self-fulfilled lives.

Personal power isn't given—it's unlocked from within. What does personal power mean to you?

Last week, Voices Together had the opportunity to present a panel at the NC Providers Council 2025 Conference in Asheville alongside Rep. Sarah Crawford and Joleane Ferris of Raleigh's Tammy Lynn Center!

In these pivotal moments, getting to share our organization's insights and research on ways to support I/DD populations, therapeutic solutions, and workforce opportunities is crucial.

We were honored to share more about how Voices Music Therapy™ can help to uplift these objectives for individuals and organizations across North Carolina.

🌟 Moments That Matter 🌟

"Last summer, I was working with an adult group. One of the clients in this group is mostly non-speaking but would vocalize, occasionally with 1-2 word phrases. Towards the end of our time together that summer, I asked the client who they wanted to go next, and he said, clear as day, "Sarah," who was their support worker. Sarah started tearing up after the session and told us she had been that client's support worker for 4 years, and that was the first time he had ever said her name."💙

At Voices Together, we witness powerful breakthroughs like this every day—moments of connection, expression, and joy made possible through the power of music. 🎶

This is why we do what we do. 💬✨

Every Voice Matters: Autism Awareness Month

This April, we’re amplifying the unique rhythms, voices, and strengths of individuals on the autism spectrum. At Voices Together, we see how music empowers expression and connection—because when words are hard, melody speaks.

“This Is Me” from The Greatest Showman – a favorite song that reminds us that being yourself is powerful and beautiful.

Take time to listen to the words in “This is Me.” This is a good reminder that in every voice, there is value.

Let’s celebrate all voices this month together!
