As Thanksgiving approaches, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to our teammates. Their dedication, talent, and hard work make a profound difference in the lives of our patients, trainees, colleagues, and community daily.

This year, we’ve faced several challenges like Hurricane Helene's devastation, but our rallying to support our colleagues across the state is a testament to the fantastic people on our team. We’ve also had the good fortune to celebrate successes together. I’m thankful for the collaborative spirit and the kindness and compassion everyone brings to our shared mission.

We are excited to announce the promotion of Dr. David Mauro, Associate Professor of Radiology, to Division Chief of VIR. He will continue to build upon the successes of Dr. Gloria Salazar through the clinical expansion, growth of our educational programs, and fostering research in the Division and beyond.Congratulations on this huge success, and we look forward to seeing how the Division continues to grow.

It is our pleasure to announce Dr. Gloria Salazar, Associate Professor of Radiology, has been promoted to the inaugural role of Vice Chair of Diversity and Health Equity. In her role, she will oversee the growth and expansion of our Castillo Scholars at UNC. In addition, she will be promoting global health, health inequity research, and the professional development of our women and URM faculty and trainees. Congratulations on the exciting new opportunity. We can’t wait to see the unique ways in which our Diversity and Health Equity will continue to grow and expand.
