MEET YOUR THERAPIST! 🌟

Owen is among the most experienced myofascial release (MFR) therapists in the Carolinas and has spent hundreds of hours training directly with MFR’s founder, John F. Barnes, PT. He’s been a massage therapist for more than 25 years, logging well over 20,000 hours of hands-on experience. He can’t imagine a more fulfilling career made any other way.

An active lifestyle is a vital part of Owen’s life. He spends his time in the woods with his family, exploring the Haw River, and foraging for wild mushrooms. Healthy eating, biking, yoga, and meditation sustain him to meet the demands of a busy practice and motivate him to help clients feel their best.

MEET YOUR THERAPIST! 🌟

Emily brings a fresh approach to Triangle Body Therapy, combining myofascial release (MFR) and massage to provide the ultimate experience with targeted pain relief and stress reduction. Previously, as a health coach, she saw how women stay stuck in fight-or-flight. Now, she uses hands-on healing to help clients find ease and joy.

Outside of the treatment room, she’s most at home in nature, launching her kids into the world with her husband and co-practitioner, Owen, and living the same grounded, active lifestyle she encourages in her clients.

Schedule with Emily today for 25% off your session! Link in bio. Offer ends 7/19.

I’ve been back in school this week taking another craniosacral class in Asheville. I’m very happy to be here expanding my skills in this modality that has been incredibly helpful to me personally and so holds a special place in my heart.

If you’re unfamiliar with it, Craniosacral in a nutshell seeks to address imbalances or dysfunction in the deepest aspects of your fascial system - the layers surrounding the brain and spinal cord. One primary goal of it is to restore slack in this tissue, allowing for easier flow of the spinal fluid through out your body and improved hydration in your brain and spinal cord. Done well, it’s truly remarkable work.

I’m especially grateful to have discovered a gifted and innovative teacher of it who uniquely aligns so remarkably well with the style of Myofascial release I practice, which insists on ditching protocols and one size fits all formulas, opting instead to treat each client as an individual with life experiences, trauma, pain and dysfunction that are 100% different from anyone else’s. It’s a much harder thing to teach, learn and practice, but doesn’t that approach just make more sense?

As I celebrate 25 years in practice, I’m grateful for the well over 20,000 hours I’ve spent “hands-on” with clients to gain a lot of skill in my craft. Simultaneously I’m deeply humbled by the knowing that by far the best has yet to come. I’ve got so, so much still to learn and develop in myself and my work. And so here I am in Asheville again for the next piece of that never ending puzzle.

I think a lot of people fail to make the connection between stuck emotional pain and the physical tension it eventually manifests in real pathology from TMJ disorders to low back pain and beyond. Whether you’re in psychotherapy or not, everyone should be screaming from time to time for better health. I tend to do my screaming underwater in a little rock seat I’ve discovered under my favorite Haw river waterfall. It’s a great release. Sorry fishies.

When was the last time you let out a nice big scream or sigh? Turns out, they may be cathartic ways of letting out your emotions. Here's what the science says.
