🎨 A Work of Art Worth Piecing Together! 🧩
Artists Bill Davis, Susan Gaca, and Margaret Zircher—residents of Carolina Meadows created a stunning 6½’ x 7½’ acrylic painting that celebrates the rich culture, history, and beauty of North Carolina. Originally conceived in conjunction with Carolina Meadows’ annual fund-raising drive supporting UNC-TV Public Media North Carolina, the artwork was met with such enthusiasm that it was transformed into a jigsaw puzzle, allowing even more people to enjoy it.
Inspired by the folk-art style of 19th-century muralist Rufus Porter, the image captures North Carolina’s unique geography and heritage—from Cherokee culture and mountain waterfalls to Bodie Lighthouse, the Lost Colony, and the Wright Brothers’ airplane. The scene also highlights agriculture, wildlife, education, arts, literature, sports, and more.
🧠 The puzzle experience is enriched by an accompanying KEY, offering fascinating background on 53 different images within the artwork—making it as educational as it is entertaining.

When winter shows up, so do our heroes. ❄️ Carolina Meadows resident, Kathy Farinola captured the care, teamwork, and dedication of our Plant Ops and Grounds teams perfectly in this poem. We’re proud to share it.

Shovels, Plows, and Winter Heroes

What to our wondering eyes did appear,
But Nicole VanBuren, shovel in gear.
Our driveway and walk—cleared crisp and neat,
Before we’d even pulled on boots for our feet.

Before the cocoa cooled, before we could fret,
The plows were already hard at it, no rest yet.
Through ice and packed snow, in cold so severe,
Plant Ops rolled out with good cheer and great gear.

With Grounds in great hands, Marc Whittemore leading the way,
And Dan Camara steering the ship through the storm and the gray.
Roads cleared, walks shining—by morning we knew:
At Carolina Meadows, snow doesn’t stand a chance with this crew

❄️ Meet our Angels of the Snow ❄️

When snow and ice made travel unsafe this weekend, these Angels didn’t blink. Carolina Meadows team members stayed overnight, covered shifts, and kept our community running smoothly—making sure residents were well cared for, no matter what the weather had planned.

Carolina Meadows looked beautiful under its winter coat, and thanks to our Angels, everything else ran just as beautifully.

Did you know that Carolina Meadows has a Pottery Studio? Tucked away in our club center lower level, this space offers residents the chance to learn something new or continue a lifelong passion. Classes are available, and residents are also welcome to work independently in the studio whenever inspiration strikes.

Creativity isn’t just encouraged—it’s part of everyday life.

Thanks to the incredible work of the Carolina Meadows Foundation, and the amazing generosity of our residents an impressive $3.275 million was raised in just six months in the donor naming opportunity program for our upcoming skilled nursing building, The Terraces.

Through the Foundation’s efforts, $2.92 million in commitments—including a transformative seven-figure anonymous seed gift have been dedicated.

In addition, a $350,000 anonymous gift will allow the Foundation to support the launch of a new clinical platform next year, modernizing care and strengthening communication across our community.

We are deeply grateful for the leadership, vision, and dedication of the Carolina Meadows Foundation—and for the residents whose generosity continues to shape our future.

💙 Holiday Joy Across Generations 💙

This holiday season, Carolina Meadows was delighted to participate in a special project with students from UNC–Chapel Hill. Two freshman students reached out as part of an effort to spread holiday cheer to local senior communities—and we were thrilled to say yes!

The students created a heartfelt video featuring college students sharing holiday wishes and personal messages for our residents.

The response has been absolutely heartwarming. Residents and family members loved hearing their names mentioned and seeing the thoughtful messages—proof that a little kindness can go a long way.

Thank you to the UNC students for helping make this season a little brighter for our Carolina Meadows community. ✨
