I am made for this…
This Achilles repair was long overdue. I finally decided I could no longer cope and manage my tendonopathy with non-invasive care.
I did everything: PT (from myself and others), massage, dry needling, taping, chiropractic care, shock wave therapy, acupuncture. You name it, I tried it to avoid getting cut into.
But, the combo of 9 years on Tamoxifen (med to prevent breast cancer recurrence) and getting older, did a number on my Achilles.
So, here I am, recovering…and remembering, that I was made for this. I was educated to take care of this. I have been doing this for other people for 28 years.
I got this.
•I will follow my post-op protocol because I’ve seen the poor outcomes when my clients don’t
•I will slowly increase my activity without causing damage
•I will do my PT exercises, because duh 🙄
•I will get manual lymphatic treatments from and give them to myself to optimize healing and minimize scar tissue formation
•I will find ways to function and work, because if nothing else, that was how I was trained: “You can’t do it the way you normally do? Well, there’s always another way to accomplish that task.”
•I will rest because rest is when the tissue heals—literally when the collagen fibers knit back together
•This one is hard: I will ask for and accept help
•I will always welcome positive, healing thoughts and prayers—keep them coming people ❤️🩹
