This is a video I watched while training for my Wildland Fire Cert. I felt like it had a great message and believe every company officer should watch.

Hello Everyone. Just wanted to take a minute to say thank you and happy EMS Week. It is rare that you receive the thanks or respect that is warranted by the job that you do everyday, but if that is why you all did this there would be no one on the streets. Again THANK YOU for your service and dedication to the people that you serve.

Hello Everyone, just wanted to make sure that we gave everyone a last chance to get registered for our EMS Leadership and Medical Disaster Management Program at UNC. We delve into many of the topics that relate to Medical Disaster Management and how those topics also relate our daily practice. We discuss a number of leadership skills, administrative management skills, preparedness and planning, and actual medical disaster operations with experts who have "been there and done it" with abundant resources and in austere environments with literately no resources. Come join us before all the seats are gone. Registration ends on April 18th, 2014. Thanks. Jim Gusler, University of North Carolina Jaycee Burn Center 919) 966-3659. Look Forward to hearing from you.

http://wunc.org/programs/news/archive/NDD041812.mp3/view When children are critically injured with a burn injury or experience a serious illness or injury, few consider the "other" needs as they recover. Yet, a big part of life for kids includes going to school. Having a public school within the hospital, to transfer the child into and out of so they stay current with their studies is important to the child's recovery. Great story. I presume this is in other large medical centers as well. If not, it should be. . .

Today marks the one year anniversary of the 2nd most deadly outbreak and the greatest number of Tornadoes in the history of NC. Extensive warnings, personal preparedness and a little luck saved many more that day.

Historical disasters either have or should have taught us lessons on how to face similar disasters today. From floods, hurricanes, and tornados to bombings and hazardous matierials, regardless of manmade or natural disaster, events left us a legacy of knowledge so that we may learn, adapt, adjust an...
