Influenza rates are at the highest levels in decades, and North Carolina is one of 30 states with the highest rates of illness. As of the end of December, 120,000 people in the US have been hospitalized, and 9 children have died from influenza this flu season.
It is not too late to protect your family! Chatham Pediatrics offers flu shots for all community members from age 6 months to 64 years. The flu vaccine is safe and effective for preventing severe illness, hospitalization, and death from influenza.
If you are concerned that your child may be experiencing symptoms of the flu please call our office. At Chatham Pediatrics, we can do highly accurate, rapid molecular testing, and we can prescribe Tamiflu if your child is diagnosed early in their illness. This can make your child’s illness shorter, milder, and less likely to cause severe disease.
