If you ever wonder why Dr. Kev is just standing in the parking lot with a camera, it’s usually because there’s a cool bird nearby. Our local red shouldered hawk was checking out the area, much to the chagrin of our resident mockingbirds.

Dr. Kev is back from the Everglades. He crawled through mud, lost gallons of blood to skeeters and biting flies, and brought these pics to you. In order: two views of the endangered American saltwater crocodile; a war-scarred American alligator; a Florida cottonmouth; a scarlet snake; an osprey with her chick; a roseate spoonbill; a burrowing owl doing yoga; a charming gopher tortoise; and a swallow-tailed kite.
