We wanted to give a well-deserved shoutout to Brady, Jacie, and & J Industries! 👏

Our sterile processing team needed a custom-built case cart. After the manufacturer could not produce the original design, we reached out to L & J Industries here in Charles City.

Brady and Jacie visited the hospital, assessed the needs, and then created a personalized cart tailored for the washer/disinfector. Brady even came back to check on adjustments and final measurements after the cart was installed.

Thank you to the L & J Industries team for all your hard work. Your partnership on this project was greatly appreciated! 💙

FCMC's Donate Life Committee hosted its annual remembrance ceremony yesterday 💙 💚

Team members gathered to honor those who have given the gift of life, as well as those whose lives were saved because of organ donation.

Blue and green ribbons were available for people to write the names of both organ donors and recipients to place on the Donate Life tree.

FCMC is proud to help raise awareness about organ donation and remember those whose lives have been impacted by the gift of life.

A local Girl Scout troop was looking for a way to earn their STEM badge.

FCMC was more than happy to help 🤩

This great group of young ladies learned about different areas and specialties in healthcare including pharmacy, radiology, emergency services, the lab, the birth center, and even infection prevention.

Today begins National Donate Life Month 💙 💚

To kick off the month, we begin with Living Donor Day, which is celebrated annually the first Wednesday of April.

This day honors living donors who donate an organ or part of an organ to a person in need of a transplant.

Here are some stats that may surprise you:

🟦 Every 8 minutes another named is added to the national transplant waiting list
🟩 585+ Iowans are waiting for a life-saving transplant
⬜️ 1.58 million Iowans are registered organ, tissue, and eye donors

FCMC gladly supports the work of Donate Life and the Iowa Donor Network to help raise awareness about organ, tissue, and eye donation.

FCMC's orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Jeffrey Clark, is one of the only surgeons in the region that performs the direct anterior approach for total hip replacements.

After hearing the benefits of the direct anterior approach, Judy came from Mason City to have her hip replaced with Dr. Clark.
