At this year's Senior Recognition Night, we proudly awarded the first-ever Charles City High School Class of 1985 Scholarship to Alexandria Wohlers. Congratulations, Alex!

Join us at 5:00 PM tonight - Friday, September 15th! 🧡🖤🧡

HAPPENING TODAY: Please join us for the dedication of "Time Stamp," a contemplative space created for reflection, located near the main entrance of Charles City Community High School. The ceremony will begin at 5 p.m.

Thank you to the class of 1985 who donated this space in memory of their classmates. The space is created by artist Molly Barrett, who is also a member of the class of 1985.

Friday, September 14 2023 is the unveiling of the Class of '85 Time Stamp! Unfortunately I can't be present due to Covid but still prepared a speech.

For those attending, many thanks to you for this recognition of the Charles City Class of '85. Also thanks to all who have helped make this possible.

Though I won't be there in body, I wll be there in spirit. Until then, we will meet again.

Hello Fellow Classmates,

It's been awhile and I want to provide an update. The class memorial is under construction in front of the high school. Molly Barrett has been supervising its progress and construction, but we're still short of the $3,000 to fund its completion.

If you haven't made a donation or purchase one of our fundraising shirts, there's still time. You can send a check to the Class of '85 account, or order a shirt from the the flyer.

In addition, Stephanie Ewald is checking with the Charles City Chamber of Commerce to determine if we can sell shirts in the park on the 4th of July. She will be returning to town this weekend with available shirts.

I will also be returning to town this Saturday, July 1st to attend the Stony Point Players show "Beauty and the Beast." If anyone would like to get together, feel free to message me.

Some of you may not know that May is Mental Health Awareness Month. It actually was designated by Congress in 1949 shortly after World War II, due to the increase of returning veterans suffering from mental illnesses.

One of those issues is su***de awareness, a problem that has deeply affected our Class of '85 as we have lost at least five members. We want to make it our mission to help by bringing awareness while commemorating our classmates.

Our shirt fundraiser will help us raise funds towards a memorial bench dedicated to our classmates, while containing an inscripted crisis hotline for those in need.

The shirts are $20 each. Below is a photo of the flyer along with the address and Venmo instructions, as well as the shirts (please note that the blue shirts are actually closer to turquoise than teal.) Also included are photos of the memorial construction and design. If the photo of the flyer is difficult to read, please message me with your email address and I'll send a copy to you.

Hello Fellow Classmates,

It's been a while since I've posted about our class memorial but I want to provide a couple of updates:

1. The Charles City High School has approved to place the memorial on the school grounds back in June 2022. Molly Barrett is currently working with the contractors for its installment.

2. Stephanie Ewald talked with the Charles City Press back in October 2022 about our mission to create awareness for mental health and su***de through the memorial. She discussed about our fundraiser and how people can get in touch.

3. We still have plenty of shirts for sale if you would like to contribute to the memorial fund. See the flyer below. You can also make a contribution without buying a shirt. Please let us know and we will provide the details.

4. Lastly, I will be presenting a speech in memory of Dedi Warrington as part of my Toastmasters project, Guests are welcome to hear the speech. If you are interested, please let me know and I will send the Zoom link.
