We had a solid turnout last week for our first ear acupuncture clinic. Today we are back at 6pm for drop in ear acupuncture. Our entrance is on the Liberty St. side of our building (201 N. George St. Suite 200, Charles Town). Enter the hallway from the sidewalk, take the elevator or stairs to the 2nd Floor and you will arrive in our lobby. We meet in the group room just off the lobby.

Live your life winning.

Someone recently asked me how it felt to have won in life.

My short answer? I’ll let you know when I get there.

If I’m being honest, I think the best way to win in life is to not win. I see this time and time again in my peers from the racing world and in business. The ones who "win" and stop pushing and take it easy, they either languish on the vine or realize they’re languishing and get back in the game because they need it to thrive.

Some of this comes down to personality. I am admittedly and somewhat regrettably a Type A personality. I’m not pushing or moving forward in some way, I feel guilty about it. Hell, I even tried "retirement" after selling Primal Kitchen. I was miserable and restless.

So though by many accounts I may have won, I haven’t. I built a nice business for myself and sold it for a lot of money. I built another business selling minimalist shoes. I became a grandpa. Lots of "winning," but the game never ends.

And winning is entirely relative to the individual. The trick to figuring out if you are winning or not is if you wake up and you know what to do rather than feel aimless, if you’re excited and happy to do it, if you are motivated. That’s winning, no matter whether your compulsion is to spend a day with your grandkids or work on a business.

The key is to think of yourself as not having won but actively winning. Winning is an ongoing process. Having won is the end. And it's a myth. You say someone has won the day they die. It’s for the outsider to ascertain whether or not someone has won.

So no, I haven’t won, but I am winning.

Let’s talk about safety in therapy.

Safety in therapy might sound like:

Everyone deserves a space that honors their pace and protects their story.

It’s not just a label.
It’s a commitment to creating safe, respectful, and empowering spaces.
Trauma-informed care means:
✨ Understanding that people carry stories we can’t always see
✨ Prioritizing consent, not pressure
✨ Honoring boundaries, not pushing past them
✨ Choosing curiosity over judgment
It’s about shifting from “What’s wrong with you?” to “What happened to you—and how can we support your healing?”
Because healing requires safety.
And safety is something you deserve.
