Healing doesn’t happen in a vacuum—it’s influenced by emotional state, stress levels, and the environment. Home health nursing helps patients by reducing anxiety and providing consistent, compassionate care that fosters better outcomes.

Our nurses can develop deeper relationships with patients because they typically care for fewer individuals daily than patients in a hospital. This means more holistic, attentive care that not only addresses medical needs but also emotional and social well-being.

While it might be hard to welcome a stranger into your personal space, our staff takes the time to build relationships by asking questions, listening, and showing empathy. This personal connection helps develop stronger bonds and mutual trust that is the foundation for a supportive and comfortable environment.

Don’t let the fear of high health care costs keep you from getting the help you need!

The Medicare Home Health Benefit provides up to 100% coverage for specific healthcare services provided in a patient’s home for those who qualify, and we accept most forms of insurance.

The home health benefit is intended for individuals who are homebound and require intermittent skilled nursing care and/or therapy services. Once a beneficiary meets the established eligibility criteria, coverage may also include the services of a home health aide and a medical social worker, if needed.

To qualify for the Medicare Home Health Benefit, the beneficiary must:

• Be enrolled in Medicare Parts A or B

• Need reasonable and necessary skilled nursing care (on an intermittent basis), physical therapy, or speech-language pathology services, or have a continuing need for occupational therapy

• Be under a physician’s or allowed practitioner’s care

• Receive services under a home health plan of care that a physician or allowed practitioner established and periodically reviews

• Be confined to home (homebound) in need of supportive devices or the aid of another person to leave the home

• Have had a face-to-face encounter with a physician or non-physician practitioner (NPP) that was related to the primary reason the patient requires home health services.

Part of the admission process includes verification of insurance and our team is happy to help answer your financial and insurance questions. For more information or to make a referral, please call 304-400-4020 or visit us anytime online at homehealthwv.org.

The healthcare landscape is rapidly changing as the number of local care facilities and proximity to them shifts, along with access to affordable insurance coverage.

Home health care can lessen the need and challenges associated with travel and access to physicians’ offices and/or medical care facilities. An increasing number of basic and specialized services also can be provided by home health agencies coupled with improvements in technology available in the home.

With value-based purchasing and other financial changes, home care can effectively lower institutional costs while maintaining or improving the quality of care in some cases.

West Virginia’s population is among the oldest in the country, with more than 20% of residents aged 65 or older. Many seniors are living on fixed incomes and benefits that haven’t kept up with rising costs, which affects everything from housing to healthcare, and groceries to transportation.

Here at Home Health of West Virginia, we understand that aging well at home can be very difficult for seniors who no longer have the financial resources or family members around them to live independently at home safely.

Because of this, our social workers can assist our clients by connecting them to community resources that are designed to help them live life more fully on their own, despite their difficult health and economic issues.

For more information about how our social workers can help you, please call 304-400-4020 or visit us anytime online at homehealthwv.org.
