Angie Engelke MA, LPC Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

I live in downtown Charleston with my husband, two teenagers and our crazy dog Luna. After spending time with family and friends, my favorite things are being at the beach, taking care of my gazillion plants, yoga, kayaking and creating "whatever they want-over the top" birthday cakes for my favorite people (especially my niece MH).

Understanding our harsh critical voice doesn't make it easy or any less painful. Try and have compassion for the struggles the critical voice reminds you of. You've been through some things and made it to the other side. Your critical mind wants to protect you and warn you not to try it again. You can make the voice quieter with this understanding and experience it as less powerful. Then you have more control over your actions and can do that important thing.

Please know that these posts are meant to be taken lightly. I would never suggest that following a social media post can instantly make mental health struggles better. These micro-tips are meant to offer support for the typical stressors we all experience just being humans.

If you are concerned about your mental health, please seek professional support. I have many resources on my website. I'm also happy to chat about the referrals I make. I've been working in the mental health field in the Charleston area for over 20 years and will try my best to find you a good match.
Follow the links in bio to get to know more about my practice. I offer free 15-minute consultations so you can determine if we might be a good fit.
