🌟 SLP Spotlight 🌟

This National Speech-Language-Hearing Month, we are celebrating the incredible work of the speech-language pathologists on our Hometown team - starting with Sarah!

Sarah has such a special way of engaging and connecting with the children she works with. She has the biggest heart - and we truly love working alongside her! In fact, we can often hear the laughter of little ones coming from her room while they're working, learning, and playing! 💙

We’re grateful for the joy, patience, and expertise she brings to every session.

Here’s a little more from Sarah in her own words:

💬 Why I became an SLP:
“I wanted to become a speech language pathologist in order to help people. Whether that meant helping them regain cognitive functioning after a stroke, helping a child communicate their wants and needs either verbally or through AAC, helping people learn to swallow safely, and so much more. I wanted to be able to give people the tools they need to improve their quality of life, whatever that looks like.”

💬 What I love about my job:
“I love that every day is different. I love that I get to be a part of the little victories of the families that I work with. Some victories look like a child saying a ‘b’ sound for the first time, being able to swallow pureed baby food for the first time, or saying their own name on their AAC device. These little victories are huge. I love that I get to be a part of it!”

Join us in celebrating Sarah and the meaningful impact she makes every single day! 💙✨

🧡💜May is National Speech-Language-Hearing Month! 💜🧡

National Speech-Language-Hearing Month honors the professionals who support speech, language, and hearing health and the vital role they play in supporting communication needs. It also emphasizes early identification, timely intervention, and ongoing support for speech, language, and hearing challenges, while promoting inclusion, empathy, and connection for all ages.

This month, we’re proud to celebrate our incredible Speech Language Pathologists and the meaningful work they do every day to support communication, connection, confidence, and growth in the children and families we serve. We’ll be introducing members of our speech therapy team and sharing a glimpse of the skill, care, and heart they bring to their work each day.

⭐️✨OT Spotlight✨⭐️

Meet the co-founder of Hometown Therapy Services - Derek!

Derek brings unmatched energy to every session, giving his very best to the children and families he serves. He plays a tremendous role in supporting our team and the communities we are privileged to serve, while continually advancing our vision and mission.

Here's what Derek had to say:
“Turning Can’t into CAN!” is what we believe at Hometown Therapy and the basis of why we started this company. Changing the way children perceive and understand the world around them is possible! It takes a great deal of effort, empathy, energy, and creativity to facilitate change in longstanding inefficient processing patterns, but the greatest joy of working as a pediatric OT is being there when a child accomplishes something they never dreamed they could do. The “aha” moment that occurs when the child realizes that they can do these hard things - and to see the confidence in that child just snowball and carry over into their social interactions, academic performance, and sports - is amazing to be a part of. That's why I love being an OT."

We are incredibly grateful for Derek’s leadership, his heart for this profession and the community, and the lasting impact he makes as an occupational therapist at Hometown Therapy.

🌟✨ Happy OT Month! ✨🌟

With deep appreciation, we celebrate Sherry and Amanda this Administrative Professionals Day at Hometown Therapy Services. 🌼🧡

This incredible mother-daughter team keeps everything running seamlessly behind the scenes. From managing referrals and phone calls to supporting staff and parents, navigating insurance and billing, and handling all of the day-to-day problem solving - there is truly nothing they don’t take on with grace and skill. Because of Sherry and Amanda - and the way they show up fully every single day - our entire team is able to do the same for our patients, families, and communities.

☀️💛 OT Spotlight 💛☀️

Today we are celebrating Casondra - someone who brings kindness, creativity, and fun into everything she does! She adds such a special energy to our team and to every child and family she serves!

“Fun fact - I didn’t even know what Occupational Therapy was until I observed a therapy session to get into the OT program. All I knew was I wanted to help kids, and the PT program had too many physics classes. 😂 But I was hooked after watching an OT help a kiddo with HANDWRITING of all things in a fun, engaging way (shaving cream on a mirror while standing on a balance board 😜). Twenty years later, I am so thankful God led me to this career. It is a blessing and a joy to meet new kiddos and families and help them overcome challenges to grow and learn. I LOVE BEING AN OT!❤️”

Casondra’s creativity and passion make therapy both meaningful and fun. She has a beautiful way of connecting with her kids and helping them succeed in ways that build confidence and joy. We are so thankful for the heart she brings to our team every day! 💫

💫💛OT Spotlight💛💫

As we continue to celebrate OT month - we are celebrating Haley today! Haley brings such a warm, uplifting presence to our team & she shared these wonderful words regarding her love for the OT profession:

“I’m so grateful to be part of a profession that means so much to me. I was first introduced to occupational therapy as a child while visiting a close family member in the ICU. Watching therapy in action sparked something in me, and growing up alongside someone with unique needs helped shape my passion for helping others. Those experiences taught me the value of patience, creativity, and meeting people exactly where they are.

What I love most about occupational therapy is the ability to help people become as functional and independent as possible in their everyday lives. Whether it’s pediatrics, orthopedics, hand therapy, or custom splint fabrication - I love the variety and the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in so many ways.

I’ve been with this company for about a year and a half, and full-time for almost a year. It has truly been a blessing to me and my family. Being able to provide skilled therapy services in a rural area is something I’m deeply passionate about, and I’m honored to serve this community every day.”

Haley’s heart for others, positive energy, and genuine passion for her work shine through in everything she does. We feel so lucky that she is a part of the HTS family! 💛
