How many times do we say, “I trust you God and then still hold on to what’s comfortable, familiar, and safe? We allow the chains of doubt and fear to hold us back from God’s truth and plan for our lives. The “What If” we tell ourselves holds us stagnant in situations and our present circumstances. “What If” I can’t (fill in the blank). “What If” I fail trying to do (fill in the blank).
But “What If” God is just waiting for us to surrender fully to Him and trust Him fully?
I heard this song today by Consumed By Fire called What If” and it caused me to pause and think, “How can I apply this in my own life?”
Doubt is a tool of Satan to make us lack confidence in God’s word; however we are held accountable for our own doubts. God says that if we doubt while we ask, we will not receive anything from Him for we are unstable. James 1:6 He who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.”
The opposite of doubt is faith. Matthew 17:20 “Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, “Move from here to there, and it will move.Nothing will be impossible for you.”
As many of you know, over two years ago, I stepped out in faith and started my own mental health practice. I didn’t know what God had planned and I’m still learning but I realize that although I thought I was stepping out in faith, I was still holding on to what was comfortable and safe with two contracts. I wasn’t fully relying on God. Because I told myself, I need these backup contracts if I fail.
God doesn’t fail us, we fail God. So, today, I turned in my resignation letters. I don’t know what the future holds , but I know I will trust God and follow where he leads me. I will trust fully and completely .
