(PD) is a neurodegenerative disorder that affects movement and brain function, often starting with subtle symptoms that worsen over time. PD is the second most common neurological disease, following Alzheimer’s disease, according to the CDC Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Justin said, “‌I chose Respiratory Therapy because a family member battled Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). I saw firsthand how lung disease can affect your health. Feel Good Friday - It was a special event at our HCA Healthcare Trident Hospital Cancer Center as a father and his daughter rang the bell together to celebrate the end of their radiation oncology treatments.

Alexandra Corona was undergoing treatment for breast cancer when her father, Guido, was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.

Guido spent his career working with Fortune 100 companies in Information Technology. Alexandra works in aerospace.

When asked about his thoughts on starting a new year, Guido, who is blind, said, “My outlook for the new year is to enjoy life.”

Our Story

The heart of Trident Health is found in our more than 3,000 employees. Pictured are members of our Trident Breast Care Center team who daily care for, comfort and encourage women in South Carolina’s Lowcountry. We are motivated to serve. Driven to compassionately provide the highest quality of care. And reminded daily of our mission - Above all else, we are committed to the care and improvement of human life.

More than half of South Carolina’s Lowcountry residents live in Trident Health’s primary market. To our more than 700,000 friends and neighbors in Berkeley, Charleston and Dorchester Counties “thank you” for allowing us to care for you.

This year we celebrate 45 years of providing acute healthcare services to families in South Carolina’s Lowcountry. Services are provided through our two acute care hospitals, Trident Medical Center and Summerville Medical Center; two freestanding emergency departments, Moncks Corner Medical Center and Centre Pointe Emergency; and two urgent care centers, CareNow Urgent Care - Goose Creek and CareNow Urgent Care - North Charleston. In July 2020 we will open our third freestanding emergency department - Brighton Park ER, which is located near the entrance to Nexton.

Both Trident and Summerville Medical Centers have received top ranking as Joint Commission Top Hospitals for Quality Performance and are Joint Commission Certified for Advanced Heart Failure and Advanced Primary Stroke Centers. Trident Medical Center is also a Trauma Center. Our trauma specialists cared for more than 2,000 trauma patients in 2019.
