What a busy month of November we have had here at CSU DPT! From a Thanksgiving (Friendsgiving) meal before we let out for the holiday, intramural football games, Stingrays hockey sponsored by PTSA, serving at RMHC, OCC box packing, and our donor memorial service with Dr. K, we have had our hands and our hearts full! We hope you have all had a wonderful time with family and friends, cherishing time spent together and reflecting on the things you are grateful for. We are thankful for our amazing faculty and students, their passion and work ethic, and their servants hearts, but most importantly, for our God who has given us the ability to steward and serve our community with love and humility. Happy Thanksgiving from CSU DPT family! 🦃🙏❤️🍂

In honor of Veterans Day this week, we want to especially recognize our very own veteran here at CSU DPT.

This is Mrs. Crystal Ford, a United States veteran, and a Charleston Southern alumnus, graduating with her degree in Kinesiology. She has been on our team as the Admissions Coordinator of the DPT program for two years.

Her service does not end there, though! She is a Master Sergeant (MSgt) and in the United States Air Force Reserves, graciously serving our country for 13 years. She works in Air Force Logistics and recently returned from a deployment overseas. If you ask, she will tell you she always knew that she would serve her country. We are thankful for her sacrificial service, and for her safe return to us last month. Thank you, Mrs. Ford, we love you! 🇺🇸💙

Lastly we want to recognize two very important faculty members to our program!

Dr. Becky Schoeneberg, PT, DPT, PhD! Dr. Schoeneberg is the woman for all things Neuro PT! She loves her job and her students deeply, and always reminds them that her philosophy is “Practice makes Progress”. She is hands-on in the classroom, and encourages her students to think outside the box! 🧠⚡️🧑‍🦼‍➡️

And we can’t forget our very own Dr. Jacob Thorp, MBA, PT, OCS, CMTPT! Dr. Thorp specializes in orthopedic PT and his favorite topic and body region is the spine! He teaches many courses, including Screening and Examination, MSK I & II, and Administration! He also is the reason we are here today! Dr. Thorp is the Founding Program Director for CSU DPT! We are so thankful for his hard work that has led us to be the program that we pride ourselves in being! 👏🩻🦴💪

We had an absolute blast hanging out with Ms. Pam Di**le in Neuro II last week! She brought the fun and the energy while letting us practice neuro interventions with her! Ms. Pam’s story highlights her journey after suffering from a brain abscess. After emergency surgery, she now presents with stroke like symptoms affecting her right side. Ms. Pam has been visiting CSU DPT for a few years now, and we enjoy having her visit every time. She is determined, bold, and confident, and we appreciate her willingness to share her experience with us! 🧡

Physical Therapists can specialize in cardiopulmonary rehabilitation. They apply advancements in their knowledge of these systems to treat patients with various cardiac or pulmonary disorders! 🩺

Next up on our faculty spotlight is Dr. Austin McPhail, PT, DPT, OCS! The other half our ortho duo (with Dr. Stag), he teaches in our MSK I & II courses, Exercise Prescription, Biophysical Agents! He is a skilled, hands-on practitioner, with a passion for teaching his students and helping them grow in their learning!💪🦵🔥🧊⚡️

Then we have Dr. FJ Goodwin, PT, DPT, PhD! Dr. Goodwin is our Director of Research, with his PhD in Human Movement Sciences specializing in Biomechanics. He teaches our Physiology course, Kinesiology and Fundamentals of research courses, and Evidence Based Practice I & II! 🏃📊🔬🦾👨‍🔬📉
