MUSC Women's Health - Pearl Tourville Women’s Pavilion The Pearl Tourville Women's Pavilion opened February 22, 2020.

Located on the 4th Floor of MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children's Hospital, this state-of-the-art building will transform how care is delivered to children and women, seamlessly integrating children’s care with obstetrical services. The Pearl Tourville Women’s Pavilion will manage the simplest to the most complex obstetrical conditions
Advanced Fetal Care Center
Labor & Delivery Unit with 17 L&D rooms, 3

6 mother/baby postpartum rooms, 7 couplet care rooms, where mothers and newborns babies can recover together
Largest Neonatal Intensive Care Unit with over 82 licensed beds and dedicated single patient family rooms
A dedicated “stork” elevator will transport mothers from the hospital’s entrance directly to the fourth floor maternity pavilion
Two dedicated obstetrical operating rooms. The hospital will integrate children’s care and obstetrical and fetal services seamlessly, enhancing safety and improving outcomes in high-risk pregnancies.

Fierce Foundations is a free, 10-week program helping gynecologic cancer survivors regain strength, balance, and confidence after treatment. From boxing to breathwork, the women support each other while working on physical and emotional healing.

“As many as 1 in 12 pregnancies are affected by hypertensive disorders of pregnancy like preeclampsia.”

Amanda Pearsall, RN-SANE, saw an opportunity to make a difference, and now her Blue Bands Save Lives initiative is getting a boost through MUSC’s Employee Initiative Grant.

The program provides postpartum patients at risk for preeclampsia with a blue wristband to alert EMS and ED providers, plus home BP cuffs and education.

“I will work with our OB, ED and EMS providers to give our postpartum moms the best care possible in Lancaster and Chester," Amanda says.

Born and raised in Chester, Dr. Courtney Wright always knew she wanted to give back to the place that raised her. Now, she’s doing just that, bringing compassionate, patient-centered care to MUSC Health Lowrys Primary Care.

“My heart is near and dear to medicine. I always knew that I wanted to help others, but I just felt a strong desire to come back and give to my community,” said Wright. “I feel like my community has sewn so much into my life and helped me to become the physician that I am today.”

Dr. Wright provides thoughtful, evidence-based primary care, including women’s health services and on-site diagnostic tools like point-of-care ultrasound.

She's now accepting new patients in Chester.

MUSC Health is the only medical facility in the Tri-county area that provides 24/7 emergency care for sexual assault survivors, including access to specially trained Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners (SANEs).

—Exams are *free* and can be *anonymous*
—Medication to prevent STIs and pregnancy is available if desired
—Located at the Adult Emergency Room at 96 Jonathan Lucas St., Downtown Charleston
—You do not have to report to police unless you choose to.

Last weekend, 76-year-old Earline Washington stepped up to the pitcher’s mound and threw the first pitch at Sunday’s Charleston RiverDogs game.

Living with sickle cell disease hasn’t stopped her from breaking barriers. She was the first African American woman commissioned as a Deputy Sheriff in Orangeburg County and helped found the Orangeburg Area Sickle Cell Anemia Foundation.

We loved having her out for MUSC Health Family Sunday. What a special moment!
