Heading back to this surreal corner of the earth from March 9-21 for a Myofascial Release Seminar 🙌🏼

Y’all know I’m a nerd about this stuff 🤓 So I can’t wait to get out there and soak up as much as I can to bring back and start implementing in therapy sessions!

That being said, I only have a few more openings on my schedule before I leave. Let me know if you’d like to snag one! (Would also HIGHLY recommend booking one for when I get back... I’m about to learn ALL the good stuff👌🏼)

It is my absolute pleasure to introduce and welcome Tiffany Schaal, owner of into my new office space! Ain’t she a beaut!?

On top of being a beautiful human inside and out, Tiffany is an incredibly skilled and compassionate practitioner, who works extremely hard to make sure her clients get the best treatments possible. Her “less is more” approach with acupuncture is admirable (mostly because she doesn’t feel the need to make you look like a human pin cushion 🤪) and she is intentional with every placement.

Personally, I had never given acupuncture a try until I started struggling with physical symptoms of anxiety and was directed to Tiffany’s practice. She immediately made me feel like I could tell her my entire life story and actually be heard, and she tailored each session to my specific needs.

In short, I would highly recommend getting on Tiffany’s schedule, especially since she’s right next door to me now!
Can’t wait for y’all to meet her 🙌🏼

My girl Courtney at Recenter Therapeutic Massage, bringin' the INFO 💪🏼

What’s the difference between a massage therapist and a masseuse? ⁣

🗣A massage therapist is notttttt the same thing as a masseuse🗣⁣

A massage therapist:⁣
* Attended an accredited or approved massage therapy school for at least 500 hours ⁣
* Completed clinical hands-on hours before graduation⁣
* Passed the licensing exam ⁣
* Applied for state licensure ⁣
* Maintains a license by completing CEUs each year depending on state requirements and abiding by our strict Code of Ethics ⁣
* Carries liability insurance ⁣
* Can refer and received referrals from allied health care and medical professionals ⁣

A masseuse:⁣
* Does not have a license to practice massage therapy or any professional training ⁣
* Provides non-professional massage services illegally⁣
* Is associated with human trafficking and prostitution ⁣
* Is not legally qualified to work with the human body in a therapeutic nature ⁣

Many people just aren’t aware of the correct terminology because we have never been taught the difference, and that’s alright! When you know better, you do better. 😊⁣

Save this post for later to remember why it’s a cringeworthy moment to refer to a massage therapist as a masseuse!

Small and squishy wins the race!

This little guy doesn't look like he'd be much help with working out tough knots or areas of restriction, but I'll tell you what... If you're looking for an at-home (and cheap!) way to get some relief, ole yeller is where it's at!

Here's how to use it:

1. locate which part of your body needs the work and place the ball in that area

2. lay on or lean against the ball and roll around until you find your "knot" or problem spot

3. Once you've found your area,
*STOP ROLLING* I repeat, *STOP ROLLING*
Simply allow your body to relax and form around the ball (imagine you're a piece of cheese melting over a burger patty 🍔)

4. Stay there for AT LEAST 5 minutes to really get into that tissue and help it let go

Here's why it works:

When you go straight into rolling on or digging into your body with harder tools like tennis balls, lacrosse balls, or golf balls, your body's reaction is to immediately go into fight or flight mode. Fight or flight triggers your muscles to contract rather than relax, which kind of defeats the purpose, right?

Essentially, the initial softness of this ball bypasses that fight or flight response, which eases your body into relaxation and allows your tissues time to let go - giving you a deeper and longer lasting release.
Patience is key! You might not feel the effects for the first few minutes, but give it time and you'll know why this is the #1 tool I send home with my clients.

Feel free to grab one from my office ($5 a pop), or you can order them from Amazon right here: https://www.amazon.com/Sportime-Super-Safe-Softballs-Inches-Yellow/dp/B0042SR0TU/ref=mp_s_a_1_4?dchild=1&keywords=sporttime+4+inch+ball&qid=1601322511&sprefix=sport+time+4%22+&sr=8-4

About Brooke Bailey Therapeutic Massage

Hello! I’m Brooke Bailey, licensed massage therapist since 2013 and founder of Brooke Bailey Therapeutic Massage.

My mission is simple:

TO PROVIDE SYMPTOM RELIEF FOR CHRONIC PAIN.

Before I started this business, I spent over four years working alongside chiropractors and their patients. Those years provided me with many opportunities to assist people who were suffering from pain, ranging from migraines to post-op surgeries. Their stories and experiences opened my eyes to a grim reality - that those who suffer from chronic pain are often misdiagnosed, misunderstood and close to giving up hope of ever feeling better. Seeing this trend lit a fire in me to build a business designed to specifically help those who suffer from chronic conditions.
