Who loves a good success story? 🙋♀️
Mr. Higley is an 80-year-old who became ill toward the end of summer in 2024. He was diagnosed with a malignant neoplasm in his lung and received aggressive treatment for his cancer which caused him to become extremely weak.
He required assistance just to get out of bed and was ordered home health after his hospital stay. He was admitted to Mountaineer Home Care on January 25, 2025. There were intermittent setbacks in his progression in the beginning, however, the physical therapy team at Mountaineer was able to help him begin to make improvements. Mr. Higley was able to progress to walking in his home with a walker and then to walking with just a cane. Mr. Higley is now able to go to church and outings with his wife without the use of any assistive devices. He is also able to go up and down stairs. He will continue therapy for a few more weeks to reach his goal of being able to drive again and walk outside safely. The physical therapy that he is receiving at Mountaineer Home Health has helped him to regain his quality of life and he is now thriving!
