✨ Back to School Kickoff Fun in McClellenville! ✨

We had an amazing time at the Lincoln School’s Back to School Kickoff, hosted by the Charleston County Parks and Recreation Department! Families enjoyed face painting, ice cream, popcorn, a jumping castle, football throw, corn hole, and of course, the Balloon Wall.

It was wonderful connecting with so many families—including one incredible family spanning 5 generations! Local vendors and pediatric businesses shared helpful info on everything from skincare to children’s safety and family support resources.
Thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate, learn, and have fun with us!

✨ Hear from Maddie Pence, PA-C!

She’s sharing her top tips for choosing the right sunscreen, how to apply it effectively, and what steps you shouldn’t skip.

1. A tinted mineral sunscreen should be applied to the face on a daily basis. The tint does add an additional layer of protection from the sun. My favorites are Elta MD UV Clear and La Roche-Posay Anthelios Tinted Mineral Sunscreen.

2. Mineral sunscreen (zinc oxide/titanium dioxide) is preferred to use on the body. It should be applied every 2 hours while outside.

3. When able, sit under the umbrella, wear wide brimmed hats, put on long sleeve shirts.

4. Consider investing in UPF clothing - my favorite brands are coolibar, lululemon, athleta. They have sun protection right built into the clothing.

5. Try Heliocare - a sun protective supplement that can be taken IN ADDITION to wearing sunscreen. It should never be used in replacement of sunscreen.
