Edgewood Summit, Inc., is a West Virginia non-profit corporation organized in 1990 for the sole purpose of developing, owning and operating the Edgewood Summit senior living community in Charleston, West Virginia. Edgewood Summit, Inc., is a subsidiary of ABH, Inc., which is also a nonprofit corporation. Edgewood Summit is governed by a volunteer board of directors, and day-to-day management services are provided by Greystone Communities. The Edgewood Summit community was constructed on a 37-acre tract of land adjacent to Cato Park, located within Charleston city limits. Phase I opened in the spring of 1995 offering 90 independent living apartments and 40 assisted living apartments. Phase II opened in January 2001 adding an additional 37 independent living apartments. Phase III offers two new levels of care, completing the Edgewood Summit continuum and making Edgewood Summit a true Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC). Named after the benefactor of the Phase III project, the Arthur B. Hodges Center at Edgewood Summit offers memory support and skilled nursing and rehabilitation services. We are a little late to post, but can you blame us? It’s the Wild Wild West over here at the Summit! 🤠

Last week, we saddled up and celebrated National Assisted Living Week with our favorite Ridgemont Residential Care residents and Arthur B. Hodges Center Memory Care residents. Our community transformed into a mini frontier town, and guess what? We struck a goldmine of wonderful residents and staff to make this week a rootin-tootin good time! A special thank you to Lee Dean Sings for coming out and giving our residents an outlaw country Johnny Cash and Patsy Cline show! 🔥

Our amazing activities team outdid themselves last week, and we would like to extend our gratitude to the direct care staff as well who make our residents lives much easier every single day! We cannot thank all of our staff enough for the impact they have, especially for our Assisted Living residents. 💞

We forgot to mention, but some of our staff members were arrested for having too good of a time! These lawbreakers were taken to the county jail (conference room 😅) for a serious time out and talking to.

Happy Environmental Services Week! 💚🌎

This week, we celebrate the incredible and dedicated staff members of our maintenance, housekeeping, and laundry teams who ensure Edgewood Summit is safe, clean, and comfortable every day. Our team works tirelessly to ensure that what's broken gets fixed, all corners are clean and sparkling, and fresh linens are ready with care. They are what make our place more than just a community, they make it a home!

✈️ What an exciting day! Our residents took a trip to the Marshall University Bill Noe Flight School for a special tour, and we can’t thank Bill enough for his time, attention, and hospitality.

The highlight of the day? Some of our residents even took to the skies (well, sort of 😅) by trying out the flight simulator! Don’t worry, no turbulence was reported.

We’re so grateful for the opportunity to learn about Bill’s journey in the development of the flight school, the art of flying, and the passion that fuels this incredible school. A big thank you to Bill Noe and resident David Haden for making the experience truly unforgettable! 💙

Edgewood Summit was honored to participate in Faith in Action of the Greater Kanawha Valley Sweet Charity event at the Capitol Market - Charleston, WV last night! We entered a decadent Raspberry Chambord Chocolate Truffle 🍫 made by our fantastic pastry chef, Matt.

While Edgewood Summit didn’t bring home an award this year, we are so proud of the winners of Best Taste, Best Presentation, Most Creative, and People’s Choice Awards as they all were very well deserved ❤️ Each of the 8 bakers brought something incredibly unique and delicious to the table, and it was magical to see such a wonderful community come together for an amazing cause.

We would like to thank everyone at Faith in Action, the Capitol Market, the amazing judges of Sweet Charity, and everyone in attendance for such a memorable night! We are very excited to participate again next year! 🧁

What began in the early 90s as a dream to create a premier community for seniors has grown into something truly extraordinary - a place where friendships flourish, care is compassionate, and every hallway feels like home.

Our 30th Anniversary Celebrations were nothing short of unforgettable. From ice cream trucks, magic shows, bands, and a over-the-top parties, we celebrated every chance we got. To our residents, families, team members, and friends - thank you for filling these years with so much more than words can describe. Who says we need to wait until December for some Christmas magic? 🎅 Our Christmas in July celebration has us in the mood for spreading holiday cheer (and playing some Jimmy Buffet music) while enjoying a little line dancing! Though we are thankful it isn’t snowing outside, we still donned our ugly Christmas sweaters and holiday attire to warm up the dance floor!🌲
