Lipoproteins such as LDL, HDL, and Lp(a) play a critical role in vascular health.
While they are often associated with cholesterol, their impact extends much further. Elevated or imbalanced lipoprotein levels can contribute to plaque buildup within the arteries, reducing blood flow and increasing the risk of conditions such as peripheral artery disease, carotid artery disease, and other circulatory disorders.
At Coastal Vascular and Vein Center, vascular health is approached with a focus on identifying and addressing underlying risk factors. Through early detection, advanced diagnostics, and minimally invasive treatment options, the goal is to restore circulation, prevent disease progression, and support long term patient outcomes.
Lp(a) Awareness Day, or Lipoprotein(a) Awareness Day, is a global initiative dedicated to increasing awareness of elevated Lp(a), an often overlooked genetic risk factor for cardiovascular disease. To learn more, visit the Family Heart Foundation.
This serves as an important reminder that prevention begins with awareness.
