South Carolina schools are back in session, which means preparing your child for the school year. For parents with children who suffer from asthma, preparing can look a little different. According to the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America, asthma is one of the top causes of missed school days among children ages 5 to 17. In 2013, it accounted for more than 13.8 million missed school days and $3 billion in losses due to missed work and school days. It is important to follow these key steps to make sure your child is healthy this school year. https://nationalallergyandent.com/back-to-school-with-asthma/

Why Cockroach Allergy Matters in Charleston
High Humidity & Old Homes: Our coastal humidity and historic neighborhoods can harbor hidden infestations in cracks, kitchens, and basements.
Indoor Allergen: Unlike seasonal pollens, cockroach allergens circulate year‑round, so symptoms can persist unless addressed.
🤧 Common Symptoms
Nasal & Sinus: Chronic congestion, sneezing, and post‑nasal drip
Respiratory: Coughing, wheezing, or asthma flare‑ups—particularly in children
Ocular: Itchy, red, or watery eyes
Skin: Atopic dermatitis (eczema) can worsen with indoor allergen exposure
If you notice year‑round nasal or asthma symptoms despite pollen‑free strategies, cockroach allergy may be the hidden culprit.

🔍 Diagnosing Cockroach Allergy
Skin Prick Testing
Specific IgE Blood Tests
Symptom & Exposure History
Flare‑ups in certain rooms (kitchens, storage areas)
Improvement when away from home
Early diagnosis means tailored treatment and better control of indoor triggers. We can help. 843-797-8162

As the weather becomes hotter and filled with humidity, flare-ups related to skin conditions are to be expected. It is common for atopic dermatitis (eczema) and urticaria (hives) to flare up during the summer months. The heat, sun, and sweat can all trigger skin conditions. Preparing for flare-ups will allow you to enjoy the summer months, instead of being miserable and itchy. Having a treatment plan already in place will allow you to stay ahead of your condition. We can help. 843-797-8162

Dr. Ramey received a great review today: My first visit today, Monday June 30th 2025, with national allergy, off of Ashley Phosphate Road. My Gastroenterologist needed Dr Ramey's opinion involving my intolerance to NSIDS. He and his assistants were extremely thorough in questioning, recording data, etc!!
Because this was just my first visit and I did not need to return, what I experienced with the entire office was magnificent!!👍🏾

Thanks for a great review: I had an excellent experience with Morgan Hatfield Peters, FNP. From the moment we met, she made us feel right at home. Morgan provided truly 5-star care — she took so much time asking thoughtful questions to really get to the root of my issues. I appreciated how thorough and attentive she was. After a detailed discussion, she put together a clear starting plan that includes tests and bloodwork. I’m grateful for her dedication and look forward to following up with her soon. Highly recommend!
