In my clinical work, I consistently observe that body awareness and emotional awareness are foundational to nervous system regulation and the experience of safety. When individuals learn to listen to their bodies and trust the information being communicated, their relationship with their body begins to shift—from one of frustration or disconnection to one of partnership and respect. Movement, in particular, serves as a powerful gateway to sensory connection, reconnection, and awakening at a time when disconnection is increasingly common.
This approach is relevant across the lifespan and across diagnoses: a young adult recovering from a traumatic brain injury, a person navigating a new diagnosis of multiple sclerosis, an individual living with Parkinson’s disease, or an older adult facing cognitive changes. Equally important, caregivers in these situations often need support in maintaining their own well-being, identity, and embodied sense of self while carrying the responsibility of caring for another.
Somatic therapy, as I provide it, is a relational and embodied process that may include therapeutic touch, guided movement, verbal dialogue, emotional expression, and gentle inquiry with the body. Through this work, clients are supported in accessing the inherent wisdom within their bodies—wisdom that can guide them toward greater independence, internal safety, and wholeness.
If you or someone you care for is seeking a gentle, body-centered approach to healing, I invite you to explore somatic therapy as a next step. Reach out to schedule a consultation or learn more about how this work may support your journey.
