HISTORY INSIGHTS from

Experience community in a beautifully restored historic home with musical roots.The Charleston Choraliers Club Singers called building home for over forty years while they were working on the Charleston production of Porgy & Bess staged at the famed Gaillard Municipal Auditorium in 1970. This production came amidst a year of racial turmoil for Charleston. The 1969 Hospital Strikes witnessed Black Nurses walking out and protesting for better wages. When 60 Minutes came to town to cover the protests, they ended up reporting the rave reviews for Porgy & Bess, too, bringing national acclaim to local Gullah performers, elevating their performance to the status of a Broadway show.

We are so excited to be hosting GullahGeecheeangelnetwork and Elder Carlie Towne at Hampton Park Healing Collective this Saturday April 13th 3-6pm for an opportunity to connect with the cultural history of Charleston,SC through an afternoon of community, storytelling, rice tasting with Chef Reggie Miller, indigo dye with Gullah Geechee Goddess Nina, somatic movement and more!

Tickets are $25 and all proceeds benefit the GullahGeecheeangelnetwork. $20 for indigo dying, please bring whatever you'd like to dye!

We are excited to announce another offering of Vinyl Vinyasa to our weekly line-up of classes + new blogs written by launching every Sunday!

Each blog corresponds with the record of the week for Vinyl Vinyasa and is carefully chosen with love. Will intuitively translates his relationship to the record onto the blog page for you to dive deeper. This week is Daniel Romano’s Finally Free. According to Will, Romano is a visionary auteur and his lyrics are unparalleled in rock music.

There are now two times to experience Vinyl Vin. Mondays 6:30-7:30pm and Saturdays 1:30-2:30 pm.
