🎓CONGRATULATIONS🎓
Another class in the books! These enthusiastic, sweet souls graduated last night! While this was my 13th round of beginner-herbalists, we reached some pretty cool milestones together: this was my first group to NEVER miss a class, and the first time I had not one, but TWO physicians as students! It’s always a privilege to share my herbalism knowledge with the community, and learn from one another.
With that being said, I have decided to offer my “Herbalism for Beginners” class series only once a year now. I’ve felt a nudge to create a virtual offering for a while now, so that is what I am going to work on during the remainder of this year. The in-person class will ALWAYS be offered in the new year, since I do feel there is something so magical about coming together in community—so get on the waitlist if you feel inclined!
I’ll keep everyone updated once the virtual offering is ready…

🔥INFLAMMATION BUSTER👻
This new and IMPROVED herbal tincture is back in stock for all of you needing a little TLC for those achy joints!
Let’s face it: as we age, we move further and further away from feeling like spring chickens. Stiffness, soreness, and pain start showing up and it isn’t much of a party for the body or mind. Maybe you work a job where you are on your feet all day, maybe you decided to install a wild garden in your yard by yourself, or maybe you have an autoimmune condition that creates extra inflammation in your body.
This tincture is here to help! Keep doing your thing, and take the edge off with this powerful blend of white willow bark, turmeric, meadowsweet and black pepper. Yes, my hands are orange, which means this freshly decanted remedy has hit the shelf and the website! Get it while you can☄️

🐲Dragon Slay🗡

🐉If you’re out there doing the work, tapping into that shadow-side where the inner demons lay, working THROUGH rather than avoiding those intense emotions…this tea is for YOU! A juicy, murky, indigo cup of herbal magic is officially HERE to invigorate and uplift your beautiful soul!
🐲Dragon Slay is inspired by the symbolism behind this majestic, mythical creature. The dragon represents supernatural power, hidden knowledge, and personal transformation.
Here’s what’s in it and why:
🦋Butterfly Pea: assists us in transitions, connects us to our intuition
🌱Moringa: enhances mood and energizes us on a cellular level
🍋Lemon Balm: gladdens the heart
〰Yarrow: helps us honor our own worth, the best ally for boundary work
🦁Borage: literally translates to “courage,” drives away sadness and treats melancholy
🐉Dragonfruit Rooibos: rich in antioxidants with a juicy-fruit taste to remind us of the sweetness in life

💗PLEASURE POTION💗
Pleasure is defined as a feeling of happy satisfaction and enjoyment. Simple enough, yet this word brings up some complex emotions for many.
🌹Growing up Catholic, I felt conflicted with the concept of pleasure since many of the things associated with this word were also associated with “sinful” behaviors. The idea of indulging was typically followed by feelings of guilt, which in turn created cycles of overindulgence followed by severe restriction.
🌸Fortunately, I’ve been able to unpack these feelings over time, and have learned that pleasure is an important feeling to embrace! In studying yoga and the chakras, I became fascinated with the sacral chakra—which is the energy center associated with creativity, freedom of expression, sensuality and flow.
🧡A balanced sacral chakra helps us maintain a healthy relationship to pleasure—acknowledging our needs and emotions, while managing important boundaries.
🍯”Pleasure Potion” is an herbal elixir designed to help us tap into that sacral chakra energy. Rather than resisting our deepest desires, nervine herbs like damiana and milky oat tops gently encourage us to “go for it,” and return to our passions in this life. The hint of sweetness from local honey in this potion reminds us to always seek joy.

🌿GROUNDHOG’S DAY BLEND🕳
🤓Fun fact: groundhog’s day has always been my favorite nonsensical holiday. Growing up in the North, by the time February rolled around I was over winter, snow, and cold grey days. I yearned for an early spring. Following the predictions of Punxsutawney Phil gets me every time, and I am happy to announce that this year he did NOT see his shadow! Which means a prediction of early spring🥳!
🌗All silliness aside, this day marks the halfway point between the winter solstice and the spring equinox. It is a time of flux for all beings, as we begin to emerge from our stagnant hibernation phase, like little seedlings preparing for growth.
☀️This morning I felt inspired to develop a new tea blend in honor of this special time—not quite spring but not quite winter **especially here in the Lowcountry where 40 degree temperature swings are the norm.
🫖Groundhog’s Day house blend features some of the common weeds we see sprouting up before the official start spring. This nourishing infusion of chickweed, cleavers, dandelion, lemon verbena, grapefruit peel and hibiscus helps clear a stagnant lymphatic system—which keeps our immune system strong, our GI tract healthy, and our hormones balanced.

💔A dear friend transitioned this past weekend, and I’ve been having a hard time finding words.
🌝With tonight’s first full moon of 2024 leading us into Aquarius season—Saturday would’ve been his birthday (do birthdays still have significance in the great beyond?) I decided to create a little altar.
🌹Rose for grief, always. Although Norm wouldn’t want me to be sad. Anytime I’d be down, he’d find something ridiculous to say that would get me smiling, and he’d say “at least I got a laugh out of you.”
🪶A feather and a blue stone for the wind and water elements. He taught me how to surf, and most of our time together was spent either in or on the ocean—he knew how to drive a boat better than anyone else I know. I’m pretty sure he was part fish. I’ll never forget the first time he invited me to go sailing—it was one of my favorite days.
🪵Palo santo and white sage to symbolize earth and fire. Norm was very in-tune with nature. He was always awake before sunrise, and there were countless mornings where I’d wake up to a “good morning sunshine” text from him that would make me chuckle. We also fought like cats and dogs. He was the brother I never wanted, and there were times where he drove me crazy, but he was also one of the easiest people to forgive due to his pure heart.
🦁It’s no coincidence that this full moon in Leo is all about finding what makes us happiest and aligning with our inner child. I plan to lean deeply into this lesson, while honoring the legacy Norm left behind by turning back towards the water where I know he’ll be swimming by my side🌊

🌱🌺SEASONAL MEDICINE🍂❄️
I’ve been conjuring up this idea for a while, and am happy to finally share it!
Working with the seasons regarding personal wellness stems from traditional Chinese medicine theory, where each season is associated with a different organ, element and emotion.
This is one of my favorite ways to connect with herbs—based on the season that is approaching: toning that organ, choosing herbs that support, strengthen, and enliven so my body and mind are able to smoothly transition from season to season💚
I worked really hard on this chalkboard, so I hope you enjoy!

🌱FILL YOUR CUP🌱
With the start of a new year, many people are choosing a “word” to guide them rather than specific resolutions. I couldn’t figure out a single word to encapsulate what it is my soul really needs, so I chose 3 words.
🌸”Fill your cup” will be my mantra this year. After finishing 2023 off completely on empty (perhaps in a deficit if I’m being honest), it is time for a change.
🌺As a community herbalist, my role in society is to educate and help others to the best of my ability. While I am honored to do this work, it can be incredibly draining on an energetic level.
🌻I had a really raw conversation with a fellow friend and herbalist, last week that has stuck in my mind. We were discussing how in order to truly help others, we have to make room for ourselves in all of it. We have to take care of ourselves and put our own energy first, in order to be the best herbalists we can be. Kind of like the whole “put your oxygen mask on before helping others” rule when you are on an airplane. It sounds selfish, and almost feels uncomfortable, but in order to avoid “burning out” as an herbalist, this must become my priority.
🌿I have some personal changes I’ll be making to better serve this community that I love **nothing too drastic, I’m still open 4x/week and will continue to teach** and I look forward to learning how to work “smarter” not “harder” in this next year.
🌞I know many of you who took the time to read this can probably relate—whether it’s your profession that drains your cup, or maybe your family etc. so I hope you also remember this mantra. We all deserve to have a full cup❤️
