SlĆ”inte! Our Lucky Little Party was a good mix of laughter, a little friendly competition, and just the right amount of mischief, especially during our search for the ā€œpot of goldā€ (still some debate on who had the best strategy). From there, we settled into an afternoon of festive fun, good company, and plenty of smiles all around. Safe to say, we may not have found a real pot of gold, but we had a pretty great time looking for it. ā˜˜ļø

Staying hydrated is just as important in winter as it is in summer, and it plays an especially important role in memory care. Proper hydration supports cognitive function, energy levels, digestion, and overall wellness, even when residents may not feel as thirsty in cooler weather.

Making hydration part of the daily routine, whether by keeping water within reach, offering herbal teas, or gathering for a warm drink break, encourages both physical health and social connection. Small, consistent habits can make a meaningful difference in helping residents feel their best all season long. šŸ’§

We took advantage of the beautiful weather and headed out for a scenic drive to enjoy some fresh air and a change of scenery. Sometimes the simple outings are the best, taking in the sights, enjoying the sunshine, and making a sweet stop at Krispy Kreme for a treat along the way.

A little time out and about can make the day feel extra special.

Every person’s story deserves to be honored and celebrated at every stage of life. In memory care communities, compassionate teams recognize the sense of loss families may experience as Alzheimer’s disease or other forms of dementia progress. A supportive environment rooted in dignity, encouragement, and understanding creates space for each individual to continue thriving.

Sensory dementia therapy plays a powerful role in this approach. By engaging the five senses, thoughtfully designed experiences help stimulate memories, support cognitive function, and inspire meaningful interaction. From soothing sounds and familiar scents to hands on activities and personalized sensory tools, tailored interventions create comfort and connection based on each resident’s unique preferences and history.

In honor of International Women’s Day, we took time to celebrate the incredible women who make up our community.

Among our residents are women who have spent their lives in many different roles and careers; dancers, pastors, artists, nurses, poets, teachers, and so much more. Each one brings a lifetime of stories, talents, and experiences that continue to shape the community around them.

They are mothers, sisters, daughters, aunts, friends, and mentors. It was a wonderful opportunity to recognize the paths they’ve walked, the lives they’ve touched, and the strength and wisdom they continue to share. We were honored to celebrate them.

ā“ FAQ: Can a memory care community help with sudden changes in behavior?

Yes. A memory care community can provide compassionate support when sudden changes in behavior arise. Trained team members use consistent routines, structured environments, and personalized approaches to help reduce stress and confusion.

Through calming therapies, redirection techniques, and individualized care plans, residents receive the emotional and behavioral support they need to feel safe, understood, and comfortable each day.

We celebrated National Pound Cake Day the best way we know how, by making it ourselves! Residents helped bake both a classic pound cake and a lemon blueberry pound cake from scratch.

Hands-on activities like baking give everyone a chance to stay involved, contribute to the process, and enjoy the pride that comes from making something together. The sweet smell was just a bonus… the fresh slices at the end might have been the real highlight.
