🌧️ A Sweet Surprise on a Gloomy Day 🍦

It may have been chilly and rainy for late August, but that didn’t stop the summer fun! 🌞🌴🍨

John, the amazing owner The Freeze in Marion, Iowa, brought his ice cream truck to treat our amazing residents and staff to their choice of Igloo Bars, Fudge Nutty Barrels, soft-serve dishes and even homemade ice cream sandwiches! 🍫🚚

John thoughtfully parked under the awning at both buildings so we could stay dry and cozy while picking out some treats. 💙🍦 Talk about a SWEET service!

🍻 Together at the Table 🍻

Our monthly dinner outing was a full house this time— we took two buses and plenty of hungry smiles from both buildings to Granite City Food & Brewery! 🚍✨

We shared a delicious meal over happy hour drinks, flatbread pizza, bruschetta salad, hearty burgers with onion tangles and warm chicken pot pie. 🍕🥗🍔🥧

But the real highlight was all the laughter, conversation and togetherness that lingered long after plates were cleared.

💛 No one was in a hurry to leave—proof that good company is the best part of any meal. 💬 What’s one dish or restaurant that always brings your favorite people together? 🍴❤️

🎉 A Decade of Dedication: Cheers to Tim! 🎉

Tim just hit 10 years at Keystone, and we are honored to celebrate a decade of serving our amazing residents with compassionate care.

He started in housekeeping and is now driving us to all sorts of fun activities and non-medical appointments. 🚐👏

We asked Tim what has kept him at Keystone so long , he said he likes talking to the residents and getting to know them. 🎲🎰 Tim also enjoys taking them to the casino once a month – where he is always LUCKY!!

🌟 Tim’s joyful energy and connection with residents make every day exciting and memorable. Here’s to more years of lucky slots and great drives! 🐟🚐

🥞💜 Pancakes with a Purpose 💜🥞

Our 2025 Alzheimer’s Pancake Breakfast was a beautiful morning full of flavor, laughter and giving back. We are PROUD to announce that there was $702 Raised for Alzheimer’s!

🍽 Residents, families and friends gathered across both Cedars buildings in support of Alzheimer’s awareness. 💜🥞

The restaurant was decorated with purple hydrangeas, and our in-house baker Catrina wowed everyone with fresh-baked cinnamon rolls, butter cookie braids and many more delicious options! 🍩🍪🍮🥮

🎉 Residents enjoyed pancakes with purple whipped cream and sprinkles — and afterward, we brought out a FUN pancake toss game, using everything from spatulas to shovels to flip these flapjacks! 🥄

🎉 A Day of Honoring our Seniors in Style 🍦🏞️

To celebrate National Senior Citizens Day, we took a beautiful day trip to Anamosa, Iowa—and what a day it was! 😄

🚌 First stop: Harlequin Home, where Gina (a dear friend of Keystone!) treated us to custom-scented lotions. 🧴💐 Followed by a delicious lunch at Tyler & Downing's Eatery hit the spot with cold beer and intriguing conversations about life during the Great Depression 🍺🥪.

🚌 🏞 Next up was Wapsipinicon State Park where we stopped by the “ice cave”, 🧊 saw the dam and also the cemetery where famous artist Grant Wood is buried.

Then we stopped at Two Scoops who surprised us and gave everyone complementary ice cream cones. 😊 🍧 WOW! Thank you!

Our ride back through Stone City and a stop at the Jones County Iowa Freedom Rock was the perfect finish—especially seeing the home where Grant Wood once lived 🏡🇺🇸.

🎉 95 Years of Wisdom, Wilderness and Wonder 🎂🌲

Yesterday, we celebrated an incredible 95 years with our beloved Don!

He is an adventurer, a builder, a devoted husband and a quiet legend. 🇺🇸💙

Born in Cedar Falls, Iowa, Don's journey took him from the halls of Iowa State University to the wild terrain as a military surveyor... even charting George Washington’s front lawn! 🗺️🏛️

❤️ He married his high school sweetheart, raised four children and as a lifelong Civil Engineer, Don helped shape the world with his hands and his heart.🏗️
