This week, we opened the Palmetto Market at Roper St. Francis Berkeley Hospital, a high-tech cafĂ© and retail space using Amazon’s Just Walk Out technology. It’s the second market of its kind in our healthcare system.

Located in the Medical Office Building, visitors, patients and teammates can purchase fresh meals, snacks, beverages, flowers and gifts without standing in line or checking out at a cash register 👉 https://bit.ly/4mBZ2IA

Her Brave Fight, His Gentle Support đŸ’Ș🐕

When 20-year-old Sophia Savage began cancer treatment, she faced the uncertainty that comes with such a journey. Comfort arrived in an unexpected form: Wade, a golden retriever therapy dog, and his handler, Emily Warren. Their visits brought calm and reassurance on some of her toughest days.

Sophia’s favorite memory of Wade happened on her last day of treatment. She had fallen asleep during her final chemo session. When she woke up, Wade and Emily were sitting quietly beside her.

Recently, Sophia and her mother, Marian, thanked Wade and Emily at the Roper St. Francis Cancer Center, celebrating the comfort and hope they bring to patients and families alongside her care team, including Dr. George Keogh.

With heavy hearts, Roper LifeLink announces the sudden passing of Senior Paramedic Paula Durham. Paula was a devoted teammate, recently honored with the North Star Award for her outstanding support in helping our free-standing ER teams adapt to new portable ventilators.

We extend our heartfelt prayers to Paula’s family, including her husband, also a Roper St. Francis Healthcare teammate, during this time of grief.

A service to celebrate her life will be held Sunday, August 17, at 2 p.m. at West Ashley McAlister-Smith Funeral Home.

Every day, our healthcare heroes touch lives, sometimes in the most unexpected moments.

When 5-year-old Arya spotted a Roper St. Francis Healthcare ambulance parked beside her, she couldn’t resist saying hello. Her dad is an EMT in South Carolina, so she already knows just how special these helpers are.

A quick chat turned into smiles all around, and a little light show from the ambulance made Arya’s day even brighter. 🚑✹
