Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) is characterized but the head of the mandible articulating with the skull. It is a complex joint with a disc of it’s own (just like the spine!) When the jaw components -muscles, ligaments, disc, jaw bone or temporal bone- are not aligned or synchronized in movement it can create dysfunction. This can include clicking, popping, pain, grinding, headaches or locking.
