I just taught a class that I absolutely loved crafting and teaching.
I could feel all of my teachers with me. If you asked me, I could tell you how I wove the sequence together and which threads came from Molly and Stephanie, my first integrative movement teachers.
Which came from Karl, Jocelyn, and Pam, my first therapeutic Pilates teachers.
Which came from Jeffrey, Andrea, Sharon, David, Polly, and Jules, my most influential Jivamukti teachers.
Which came from Kelly Jean, the first teacher/friend/and studio owner to encourage me to truly find my way as a teacher that brought all of my study and learning into my class rather than trying to water my teaching down to fit the vibe of a studio or method.
And, which are the magic threads that I’ve been exploring the past few years with my Katonah mentors and teachers. These threads continue to be throughly satisfying to weave with because they bring all past study together in a way that feels so true and organic.
I used to think that mixing integrative movement, Pilates, Jivamukti yoga, therapeutic yoga, sacred geometry, Buddhist meditation, and functional movement would be too much or feel too pieced together in a group class. (It’s amazing in one-on-ones!!!)
Now, I see how it all can weave together in a simple tapestry and how the elements of Tao and Chinese medicine and Thai yoga therapy contribute to the beauty as well.
Im really loving teaching these days...now, if only mire students would come back to class!
Join me at Mission on Wednesday’s at noon and Friday’s at 9am.
We will see what happens with Saturday’s in Hampton Park as the weather and light/darkness shifts.
Also, if you want a private class for your own group - I’m available. Let’s talk.
