Pancreatic cancer can be unpredictable, but researchers at MUSC Hollings Cancer Center are learning more about why some tumors behave differently.

Drs. Aaron Hobbs and Rachel Burge have discovered a gene mutation called G12R that slows tumor growth, makes tumors less aggressive, and helps treatments work more effectively.

Understanding these differences could help doctors provide more personalized care for patients.

MUSC and Trident Technical College have teamed up to create South Carolina’s first apprenticeship for radiologic technologists.

While completing their classes, students in the program gain paid, hands-on experience in MUSC’s Diagnostic Imaging Department, giving them a head start in a high-demand health care career.

“This first-of-its-kind apprenticeship is a powerful win for patients and for talent in South Carolina,” says Becky Seals, System Radiology Education Program Manager at MUSC Health.

We are thrilled to celebrate MUSC's Dailey Nettles, PhD, for being named a recipient of the 2026 Young Investigator Draft Grant by Uplifting Athletes!

This $20,000 grant will directly support her work on Champ1, a rare disorder that affects brain development, funding experiments that could bring hope to those impacted.

The awards ceremony will take place in Philadelphia on January 31.

Trauma can have lasting effects on a child’s mental health, but therapy can help.

Dr. Rochelle Hanson and her team are exploring ways to expand access to trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy.

Their findings show that involving both therapists and community professionals, like school counselors and child welfare workers, can help more children start therapy, improve PTSD and depression symptoms, and complete treatment.
