Thank you to everyone who made Health Workforce Well-Being Day across MUSC so special yesterday.

It was a day filled with appreciation for the incredible people who care for our patients, support our teams, teach our learners, and keep our mission moving forward.

Emma Jellen, Executive Director for Enterprise Well-Being Strategy and Operations at MUSC, shared, “This work is hard and requires a collective effort. Every role and every person matters.”

Yesterday showed just how deeply that is felt across our enterprise.

What might look like just a normal VR headset is actually being used as a powerful training tool for future nurses in the MUSC College of Nursing.

Students are using virtual reality to prepare for real‑life moments as they learn to care for older adults facing complex health challenges.

This innovative approach is helping us build a stronger and more compassionate workforce for geriatric care across South Carolina.

This Women’s History Month, we’re celebrating the educators, researchers, and team members whose work moves science forward and inspires students every day.

Dr. Jennifer Stancill from the MUSC College of Graduate Studies turned her childhood curiosity about the natural world into a research career studying pancreatic beta cells and why they stop working in diabetes.

Her work is helping advance treatments and strategies that could change lives for people affected by this disease.

Drs. Anand Mehta, Richard Drake and Peggi Angel at MUSC Hollings Cancer Center are studying glycans, complex sugar structures on cells that change as cancer develops.

These molecular patterns can reveal important clues about tumor growth and how a cancer may respond to treatment.

Through a partnership with Bruker, scientists now have advanced tools to map these molecules quickly and directly from patient samples.

Our alumni continue to inspire us in so many ways.

Last month we gathered for our annual MUSC Alumni Awards banquet and had the chance to honor graduates who are doing incredible things in their careers and in their communities.

Alumni from every MUSC college and across many different graduating years came together to reconnect, share stories, and enjoy an evening of celebration together.

It’s about the people you meet, the ideas you share, and the friendships you form along the way.

We had such an inspiring day at the Annual Frontiers in Cell Biology Symposium last Friday!
