Hey AHAS family! Who is ready for our last hearing loss fact of the month?!

This weeks fact is 2 out of every 1,000 children in the United States are born with a detectable level of hearing loss in one or both ears. Also, more than 90% of deaf children are born to hearing parents.

This is why Newborn Hearing Screenings are so important—so we can diagnose and treat early!

To schedule an appointment with either of our doctors please call (304)-345-8522 😊

Good morning AHAS family! Our Dr. Emma made a visit to Van Elementary in Boone County yesterday for career day. She got to talk all about what an audiologist is and what they do at work. The kids absolutely loved asking so many questions about the ear and getting to learn how their ears work!Today’s fact is going to be one that the Kindergartners loved yesterday.

Did you know that the smallest bones in our body actually are in our ear and they play a huge part in how we hear? When sound hits our eardrum, it begins to vibrate and moves all those little bones to send the signal farther into our auditory system!

If you would like to schedule a hearing test and come see how you’re hearing—give us a call at (304)-345-8522 😊

Special shoutout to Mrs. Green at Van for letting Dr. Emma spend the afternoon with her kiddos!

Happy Better Speech and Hearing month! To kick off the month of May, we will be posting hearing related facts once a week, all month long, to raise awareness and educate.

Today’s fact is that 1 in 8 people experience some degree of hearing loss and around 80-90% of people who could benefit from a hearing aid do not use them.

We will continue to post facts and fun things your Audiology & Hearing Aid Services family get into this month—so stay on the lookout!

As always, if you would like to see how you’re hearing OR if you could benefit from hearing aids—give us a call for an appointment.
