Boston-Harvard Burn Injury Model System (BHBIMS) is a partnership of Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH), Shriners Hospitals for Children – Boston (Shriners), Spaulding Rehabilitation Network (SRN), Brigham and Women's Hospital (BWH) and Harvard Medical School (HMS). Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital (SRH) is part of the Partners Healthcare System (Partners) and is the flagship facility of SRN. S

hriners is an international leader in the field of pediatric burn care and research. BH-BIMS has over 8,200 outpatient burn injury clinic visits each year. Our systematic program of outpatient care devoted to persons with burn injury is guided by the following principles:
• Patient-centered care
• Complication prevention
• Dynamic communication through use of our longitudinal electronic medical record
• Facilitation of burn injury specific medical care and preventative health services

The Boston Harvard Burn Injury Model Systems (BHBIMS) team at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital took part in National Burn Awareness Week 2025, organized by the American Burn Association with the theme “Cooking Safety.” This year, the team, along with Burn Survivors of New England, hosted educational tables to promote burn prevention and awareness at Mass General Hospital, Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital, and Brigham and Women's Hospital, offering valuable resources for patients, clinicians, and the community.

It's Fire Prevention Week! This year's theme is "Smoke alarms: Make them work for you!" This year's campaign strives to educate everyone about the importance of having working smoke alarms in the home.

According to a report from National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), working smoke alarms reduce the risk of dying in a home fire by more than half (60 percent), while the majority of civilian home fire deaths continue to occur in homes with no smoke alarms or working alarms.
