For the past few years, I’ve used a biometric wearable to help monitor my health—and honestly, when my doctor first suggested it, I rolled my eyes and judged the whole idea (my first was a Whoop). But he said something that stuck: we work on what we track.
I’ve worn one ever since, and now I use an Oura Ring. I don’t follow it blindly—I still check in with how I actually feel—but it’s been a really helpful guide. If my readiness is low, I give myself more space. I’ve learned that low recovery usually means I’m more emotional, should avoid serious conversations, and delay big decisions for at least 24 hours. Those are also the days I prioritize hydration and a few extra stress-relief tools.
Today is a perfect example: my ring shows my temperature is about a degree higher than normal, and my body feels achy. So I’m canceling plans, resting, and watching British mysteries—highly recommend the wearable… and the couch.
