Uwharrie Harm Reduction Initiative

Uwharrie Harm Reduction Initiative We serve those struggling with substance use disorder in Stanly county, NC & surrounding counties.

Our goal is to help individuals improve their health and find paths to recovery and rehabilitation! UHRI (Uwharrie Harm Reduction Initiative) is a Non-profit organization that reaches out and serves individuals in Stanly County and the surrounding areas that have Substance Use Disorder (SUD). Our goal is to educate our friends in issues that can improve their health and give help them find paths t

o rehabilitation. With these friends exposing themselves to high risk of hepatitis C, endocartitis (infections of the heart), HIV, and other blood borne infections, we strive to help them avoid these diseases through education, sterile products, first aid products, and leading them to paths of sobriety. We encourage them to bring used syringes to us so they can be disposed of properly and do not pose a danger to children, law enforcement, and the general population. We show our friends love and acceptance as we help them find a release from the bondage of addiction. Also through this program, we supply injection supplies to diabetics and others who use prescription medications. UHRI is located in Grace Place and our hours are:
-Tuesdays: 2pm-4pm
-Fridays: 2pm-4pm. Call 980-581-8004 or 980-287-8254 to inquire about other hours and services.

We had a wonderful time honoring Robi Cagle this morning. Everyone had something to say about how much of a difference she has made in their lives. It was wonderful having Robi and Jamie here with everyone. A metal bench was presented to Robi as a small token of what she means to Grace Place and UHRI. There is a plaque on the bench which reads " Robi's Bench. Have a seat, relax, and know God loves you." It is being placed permanently outside of Grace Place/UHRI. Robi is well-loved by everyone in our community. She continues to serve in Stanly County in many ways.

Respect is a word we use a lot, but do we really know what it means?

Today we learned one way to respect others is to respect yourself. Treat yourself with value and love. Stand up for yourself, your health, and your Life! Let’s Take care of ourselves so we can take care of and respect others!

Have a Great Weekend! Be Safe.

This Month is Mental Health Awareness. This is a great Post from the National Alliance in Mental Health, a great resource.

My self stigma kept me from growing, staying accountable, and accepting help. Check out what Self Stigma Means…

By facing and addressing my own self-stigma, I took ownership of my situation.
