This emotional rollercoaster can send signals from the brain to the GI system, which is especially sensitive in children. The result? Belly pain, nausea, bloating, constipation, diarrhea and even vomiting in some cases.
How parents can help ease these symptoms:
🧠 Start with conversations and ask your child what’s on their mind.
🧘 Try coping strategies like deep breathing, journaling, creating art, listening to music, dancing or even singing.
🛌 Prioritize sleep, hydration and physical activity.
💬 Offer reassurance, and use redirection or distraction when needed.
🍽️ Stick to a balanced diet and try to avoid greasy, fried or fatty foods.
🚫 Skip caffeine.
