Complex Regional Pain syndrome (RSD)

People with CRPS also experience changes in skin temperature, skin color, or swelling of the affected limb. This is due to abnormal microcirculation caused by damage to the nerves controlling blood flow and temperature. As a result, an affected arm or leg may feel warmer or cooler compared to the opposite limb.

Plantar fasciitis
It is a painful condition that affects the plantar fascia, a band of tissue that runs from the heel to the toes and supports the arch of the foot.

Symptoms include:

A stabbing pain in the heel or bottom of the foot

Pain that's usually worse in the morning or after resting

Pain that can radiate down the bottom of the foot

Swelling on the bottom of the heel

Plantar fasciitis can be caused by a number of factors, including: Foot structure, Type of shoes, Overuse, Walking surfaces, and Training errors.

Treatments for plantar fasciitis include:

Acetaminophen or ibuprofen to reduce pain and inflammation

Physical therapy, especially heel and foot stretching exercises

Night splints to stretch the foot while sleeping

Resting for at least a week

Wearing shoes with good support and cushioning.

The plantar fascia is a band of tissue, called fascia, that connects your heel bone to the base of your toes. It supports the arch of the foot and absorbs shock when walking.

Tension and stress on the fascia can cause small tears.

Herpetic Neuralgia

Burning, sharp, jagging or aching pain in the area where the shingles rash appeared. Itchiness or numbness at or near the area of the former rash. Pain that is constant or “comes and goes.” Pain typically lasts, on average, for three months after the rash has healed, but can last for more than a year or longer.

Piriformis Syndrome

Piriformis syndrome causes pain or numbness in your butt, hip or upper leg. It occurs when the piriformis muscle presses on the sciatic nerve. The condition may be caused by injury, swelling, muscle spasms or scar tissue in the piriformis. Most episodes go away in a few days or weeks with rest and simple treatments.

The piriformis is a flat, narrow muscle. It runs from your lower spine through your butt to the top of your thighs. Your piriformis muscle extends to each side of your body and aids in almost every movement of your lower body.

The sciatic nerve most commonly runs underneath the piriformis. The nerve travels from your spinal cord, through your buttocks, down the back of each leg, to your feet. It’s the longest, largest nerve in your body.

Hip Bursitis

Bursae are small, jelly-like sacs that are located throughout the body, including around the shoulder, elbow, hip, knee, and heel. They contain a small amount of fluid, and are positioned between bones and soft tissues, acting as cushions to help reduce friction.

Bursitis is inflammation of the bursa. There are two major bursae in the hip that typically become irritated and inflamed. One bursa covers the bony point of the hip bone called the greater trochanter. Inflammation of this bursa is called trochanteric bursitis.

Another bursa — the iliopsoas bursa — is located on the inside (groin side) of the hip. When this bursa becomes inflamed, the condition is also sometimes referred to as hip bursitis, but the pain is located in the groin area. This condition is not as common as trochanteric bursitis but is treated in a similar manner.

The main symptom of trochanteric bursitis is pain at the point of the hip. The pain usually extends to the outside of the thigh area. In the early stages, the pain is usually described as sharp and intense. Later, the pain may become more of an ache and spread across a larger area of the hip.

Bicep Tendonitis

Biceps tendonitis is irritation and inflammation in the long head of the biceps tendon. This tendon connects your bicep to your shoulder. The condition can occur due to overuse or general wear and tear. Treatment typically starts conservatively, with rest and ice. If your condition is persistent, you may need surgery.

This type of tendonitis (also spelled tendinitis) is an overuse injury that often happens due to a repeated overhead motion. For instance, professional baseball players, swimmers, tennis players and golfers are at risk for tendonitis in their shoulders, arms and elbows. Tendonitis can also occur because of a sudden, serious load to the tendon.

Biceps tendinitis doesn’t typically occur alone. It most often happens alongside other shoulder issues, including:

Shoulder arthritis.

Dislocated shoulder.

Shoulder impingement syndrome.

If you have biceps tendonitis, you’ll have bicep pain or tenderness in the area in front of your shoulder. This pain may get worse if you continue to participate in physical activity or try to lift your arm over your head.

You may also have upper arm muscle pain that moves down your upper arm bone. Along with pain and tenderness, you may hear a snapping sound or feel a snapping sensation in your shoulder.

Although the conditions are sometimes related and both affect the sciatic nerve, they are different.

A herniated disk or spinal stenosis can cause sciatica. The symptoms tend to affect the lower back and can travel down through the buttocks and leg.

Piriformis syndrome only involves the piriformis muscle pressing on one area of the sciatic nerve in the buttock. It can feel a lot like sciatica but in a more specific area.

Heel spur

A heel spur, also known as a calcaneal spur or bone spur, is a bony growth that can develop on the bottom of the heel bone. It's caused by calcium deposits that build up over time when the foot is under constant stress. Heel spurs can occur in the back of or under the heel, or beneath the sole of the foot.

An abnormal walking style, such as rolling the feet inwards, can place extra strain on the plantar fascia. Chronic inflammation may develop and, over time, lead to a bony growth or spur. The spur can only be seen on x-ray, but its presence is often flagged by a tender patch at the heel on the sole of the foot.

You may have heel spurs without realising it - it is estimated that about one in 10 Australians have heel spurs without any symptoms. The spur itself does not cause the pain, but pain may be associated with inflammation in the area.

Risk factors for heel spurs include:

Walking gait abnormalities, which place excessive stress on the heel bone, ligaments, and nerves near the heel

Running or jogging, especially on hard surfaces

Poorly fitted or badly worn shoes, especially those lacking appropriate arch support

Excess weight and obesity
