This June, our school readiness program has a theme, and our kiddos are absolutely ROARING about it.🦕 Dinosaurs. All month long.

At Opal, school readiness isn't about drills or worksheets. It's about meeting children where their curiosity already lives, and right now, for a lot of our little learners, that means T-Rexes, Triceratops, and everything in between.

When therapy follows a child's special interests, something really special happens. Engagement goes up. Kids who once struggled to sit for five minutes are suddenly asking for more — in whatever way is most natural for them.

You don't have to be an autism parent to make a difference in the life of a child with autism.💙

Here are 5 simple ways to show up as an ally:

⭐ Follow their lead. When a child with autism plays, communicates, or interacts differently than you expect — don't redirect them. Join them. Their way of engaging with the world is valid.

⭐ Ditch the "they don't look autistic" comments. Autism looks different on every person. Saying this — even kindly — erases the very real challenges families navigate every day.

⭐ Create sensory-friendly spaces. Dimmer lights, quieter environments, fewer surprises. Small adjustments make a world of difference for children who process sensory input differently.

⭐ Support the whole family. Autism parenting is a full-time job on top of a full-time job. A meal, an offer to help, or simply asking "how are you doing?" goes further than you know.

⭐ Keep learning. The autism community is full of incredible voices — parents, self-advocates, clinicians. Listen more than you speak, and let that learning change how you show up.

Sensory play isn't just fun — it's foundational. Equipment like this helps children with autism build body awareness, improve coordination, and practice the kind of regulation skills that carry over into the classroom, the playground, and home.

The Pinehurst team puts our whole heart into creating an environment where every child feels safe enough to explore, grow, and just be a kid.

A sweet and meaningful morning - A Mother’s Day celebration! 💐🐝🐞

This morning, moms, parents, and caregivers were all invited to join their child for special quality time together. Families enjoyed coffee, juice, pastries, and bagels while participating in a fun Mother’s Day craft activity together.

They created adorable handprint ladybugs and bumble bees, complete with personalized polaroid photos to make each keepsake even more special.

It was a morning filled with smiles, creativity, connection, and meaningful moments with our amazing families — exactly what Opal is all about.
